The angle of looking into the scene, from slightly above to the left, with the youth leaning back on the bed, creates drama and dynamism, just as this sort of composition does in Baroque art. In addition, the youth is appealingly rendered. He presents himself, he smiles, he is not threatened by the looming presence of Saladin, instead he is bemused. He may be thinking not that he will be enslaved and abused, but rather that he has found a majestic lover. Of course, this way of reading/interpreting the sixth panel diverges from what is otherwise the cliched, stiff and stodgy presentation of the other drawings in the set which present the trite theme of the older, larger, swarthy man dominating the pale, lithe plebe. So ... Thank you for this one artistically and psychologically interesting panel.
