Update on Dad!

Hey guys! I just wanted to give you another update on Dad. Following the advice of a few friends and patrons, I tried to take it easy this month, and did my best to take my mind off stuff regarding Dad's health. He's not able to leave the hospital yet which we all knew was coming but Mom's been by his side this entire time so I feel good knowing he's got company for the brief times he's awake. She texted me a picture of him giving a really tired thumbs up and honestly, it made my entire month just seeing his personality come back after being drugged up for so long. It warmed my heart! ❤️

Necrotizing pancreatitis is what the doctors called it. I forgot if I had mentioned the term but it is the biggest and baddest version of that godawful disease... After multiple trips back and forth from the ICU to his normal hospital room earlier this month he seems to have had his most steady week yet; which is a very good sign of him recovering more and more. They weren't kidding when they said recovery was going to be slow, but the road bumps along the way have been nerve wracking.

For me, it hit the hardest this month — moving into a new season and not being able to go up to my parents place to visit and talk about anything or nothing. Around this time of year we would be talking about what to do for their art studio; my dad welds and makes metal sculptures, and mom paints, crafts, and does all kinds of things she can get her hands on and they're both amazing at it; together they would come up with a slew of fun projects and things to sell in the summer when tourism season is bustling. To think life can just knock you down in the blink of an eye... It really makes you cherish what you do have, and to not give up hope because Dad is hanging in there and making some good progress despite all of the obstacles that were in his way.

I apologize to any new patrons for having been greeted by these posts regarding Dad's ongoing battle with his health! I'm sure they weren't what you were expecting to read coming in here but it's been really healing for me to be able to express myself this way and you all have my gratitude.

Fingers crossed the next time I update you all about Dad he'll be up and walking, eating, and living his life again.
