when a character says something like "I can sense this person IS here", you really should trust them until they may be proven wrong! The last episode established that there's no lag at all in detection between bearers of the star, so unless they pulled a Giorno and somehow managed to leave a living body part behind, the sense should be leading straight to them and them alone. (with I guess a faint trace of Weather far away) Obviously there are many times characters in jojo misinterpret situations, but trusting them as a baseline is a necessary path to not getting blindsided by them being right! And their initial belief often ends up being important to keep in mind anyways.

Also, that was one short arc at the end that I don't blame people for forgetting about. And Caleb definitely believes that Araki is deliberately setting up fate as a major factor in this part, whereas Jacob is still having doubts. I honestly think that the next arc is gonna start making Jacob a believer, too.
