Hm, I think he's easing us back in after the timeskip. Like you said, anything would pale in comparison to Marineford, he'll need time to build up the next threat on that level, so it's gonna take a few arcs... I mean, even Alabasta had a couple arcs of buildup after all. Personally, this reminds me most of Skypia, with the strawhats as basically tourists who get dragged into a local conflict that has nothing to do with them. I guess the most dangerous thing right now is the environment, since they are in the deep sea, that's just a natural disadvantage. Unrelated, but I really liked that short sequence of Sanji kicking guards, it had a nice variety of moves, which doesn't always happen, so I always appreciate when it does...
