Cause if he did Hed (hopefully) do something like carry sleeping potions or tranquilizers around to forcibly put himself to sleep just in case shit ever went down. Thats what I would do if it was the only way I could defend myself and I knew about it.

The thing with him, and I assume its how he passed the test is that whenever he gets too stressed his mind completely shuts off
