Ya, the anime was catching up to manga around this time, so they used flashbacks to fill time. You might consider doing 3 episodes instead of 2 for a while. Especially when things are just building up.

2021-02-16 09:32:55 +0000 UTCWe have already seen "Objects eatings fruits" the Bazooka-Dog form Alabasta was a Bazooka eating a Dog Dog Fruit. It is supposed to confused you and it wioll get explained more and more. Right now Devil fruits are a huge mystery at this point in the show and one of the most intrigueing things over the time beeing developed and digged into. Also 284 is so good the whole episode for me is a "Leap of faith" with Franky believeing in the Strawhats against the odds and Luffy literally taking a Leap of faith.

2021-02-16 08:23:31 +0000 UTCSo there's nothing "important" important in the filler episodes 279-282 you skipped: they're mainly flashback episodes showcasing the moments that led each member of the straw hats to truly tie their fates to Luffy, to become a true member of the straw hat pirates.They also feature the inner thoughts of those members as they're waiting for the drawbridge to be lowered.It isn't necessary, but it might be nice if you were to watch them on your own sometime before the final battle and give us your opinion on them,perhaps as part of the intro for one of the new reactions Just keep in mind that they're re-using the original footage from the episodes in question and are mainly to show why each member of this crew is so willing to put everything on the line to rescue Robin.

Mostly it's the studio just trying to keep the series with the year round model vs seasonal...but real episode content kinda suffers.
