He is protecting all of the good people and taking them under his rule, he also benefits by expanding his army with these people like the lizardmen and that small village. I always found it irritating when an mc saves some asshole in another anime ;-; like gosh let them die for being that way.

He is trying to protect everyone he possibly can and is why he was kind of relieved when Sebas saved that girl. He is originally a human and he has feelings toward his human race which is why he is trying to protect all of the good ones
