I mean the difference is the Sonic Ninja stuff was bad on purpose, and unlike the West, Japan has education systems specifically in place to teach voice actors. In America and elsewhere people usually transition from stage acting for dubbing. This is good experience but it's still not quite the same. In Japan instead of the skills being transferred the roles are specifically taken by people who have dedicated themselves solely to studying to be voice actors. Also, just because we can't understand the words without subtitles for the most part, that doesn't mean we can't feel the difference in the passion, range and emotion behind those words.

2020-09-18 00:00:43 +0000 UTCI just wanna point out, you know how you said "what the fuck is with this voice acting?" and notice the kids said the movie was great. Thats what I tell everyone who prefers dubs over subs "Japanese voices sound soooo much better" to which I say "How would you know? You dont speak Japanese, so you cant say what good or bad Japanese voice acting sounds like." An actual Japanese person watching this might say this sounds as terrible as the Sonic Ninja voice acting sounds to us.

2020-09-14 01:30:48 +0000 UTConly being this far into the show myself Id say theres obviously a plot twist I mean as its been pointed out by AJ plenty of times... why teach them all this if your just gonna blow up the earth in less than a year? Sounds pretty pointless even if he IS just doing it to keep a promise. My guess is the plot twist is the whole assassination thing is him preparing them for an actual threat thats coming, so them trying to kill him gets them ready while at the same time the threat of him destroying the world makes them actually try and take it seriously (because why wouldnt you if you thought you were gonna die in a year and the only way to live is to kill this thing?)

2020-09-13 00:54:45 +0000 UTCSo, the skipped chapters (23 and 24) between this episode and last. Nagisa and the gang stumbles upon Maehara going on a date with a main campus girl. The pair then encounters a bunch of other main campus students and after a brief moment of "do I pretend my boyfriend?" she switches over to "die class E scum, you are an idiot for thinking you are good enough for me." The gang then proceeds to plan an assassination of those main campus students where they use what they've learned to distract them and then put "poison" (laxatives) in their drinks all the while having an "assassin" occupying the nearby restroom. Now, skipped manga panels from this episode: When Lovro attacked Karasuma it was shown in the manga (with internal narration) that he had tampered with the floorboards to delay Karasuma pushing back his chair and give him an opening. This makes him seem slightly less arrogant in the manga because he actually prepared for his assassination and didn't just storm in.
