Something amazing about one piece that sets it apart from other anime in its genre is it has a power system, but it's not immediately apparent. When you learn what it is, you can think back to everything that has happened previously and everything still fits well within the rules. It shows that Oda thought so far ahead in terms of the story that he was able to build the entire world ahead of time and show us different parts of it gradually, like a mystery novel. With each arc, more and more information is shown about the world as a whole.

Can't wait until you get to understand the "rhythm" and what it really is

i liked your beginning comments about the fights in this arc (and really most in one piece) - where many shows have individual fights for plot reasons, in one piece every crew member grows somehow due to their unique fights, especially in depth of character - it's not just training, but emotional growth or change of mindset that allows them to overcome. like usopp's last stand after luffy was mocked, or zoro's stand against mr 1. i've always really appreciated Oda's attention to each character's motivations and growth throughout the series.

Yessss I guess he teacher was referring to the fact that a true swordsman understands what he is cutting because not everything is meant to be cut. But yeah that’s why he doesn’t think those who want to cut everything are swordsmen because they don’t truly cut anything.

You've got the rebellion events nailed, the situation is going all in Crocodile's favor, and Vivi and the others have already failed to prevent so many deaths already.
About the Zoro fight and that ability he gained. The teacher gave him that symbolic-sounding riddle about cutting nothing, butt also cutting everything, but it's actually more literal and less symbolic in practice. Zoro mentions that he started hearing the "rhythm" of different material, like trees, dirt, rock, and the steel. Rhythm is basically frequency of vibration, which is actually how real life matter behaves. So Zoro learned some way to swing his sword that matched the frequency of whatever he was trying to cut. Doing that makes it so he cuts nothing EXCEPT what he is trying to cut. He demonstrated it when he moved his sword past the leaves and none of them were cut, then he effortlessly cut a boulder in half. When he's tuning in to a specific rhythm, that's all he will cut.

I think if that something happen suddenly, it has to have a simple reason. The reason this time to shoot Koza was to continue the fight. So the opposed team, the royal army (secretly Baraq workers) shot Koza to continue the war. There usually has to be better foreshadowing to do a less random thing than to shoot Koza. I saw it coming atleast. They want the civil war to continue and take the palace.

I have seen many interviews with Oda, and he always says "protagonists". So it means everyone in the crew is the main character:) They fulfill eachother:)
