Nice analysis with Captain Morgan. I too expected he was discreetly trying to escape and save his son by taking him with him as a captive. I may be overthinking it, but the look Captain Morgan gave at the end seemed like he was thinking, "he's safer with Navy than a father who's become a criminal." Also, I still get teary-eyed when Helmeppo is asking Colby if they'd execute his father. My dad told me once that, "no parent should have to bury their own child," and I feel no child should have to watch their parents die. Why is One Piece one of my top anime? Because of all the feels.

i think the luffy vs zoro fight wasnt in the manga. thats why it looked odd. they maybe did it for fanservice idk

I think Morgan saw a sliver of strenght from the boys, and maybe, maybe in his inner hearts he respected them enough to not kill them. Especially his son, who never really did anything.

I completely agree about Morgan, I think he was ashamed and angry of his son for turning out so weak which is mostly Morgans fault along with Meppo's surroundings.
