Why does JC Staff get so much hate for the animation in season 2? Honestly, I think the animation is great. Let's be honest, The animation in season 1 is far better than Madhouse is usually capable of. Not a single ounce of CGI in OPM. That has to have given Madhouse a bit of the withdrawal sweats. If I had to pick something that I think is most different, it would be the difference in Madhouse's and JC Staff's color choices. Madhouse often likes to use very vibrant colors in a lot of their projects, including OPM. JC Staff did significantly less of this in season 2. That's really the only "Drastic change in animation quality" I noticed. I think they did everything else pretty damn well.

yeah but at the time, this was the one fight i really thought was a threat to saitama. And it was the most beautifully animated fight of the series as well.

No Saitama is not excited fighting Boros, he's not bleeding yet. In the dream in the first episode, he got excited for the enemy is because the enemy punched him bleeding at first, now Boros is neither fast enough nor powerful enough to do that to Saitama.

it was supposed to be the ending to the anime though, since madhouse didn't plan a season 2

the "serious punch" alone tell you he was holding back and that fight was never a challenge. i.e IF hed used that serious punch from the beginning to start with that fight would have ended instantly like all the other fights

Love it. Season 2 was animated by a different studio, JC Staff and animation aside, the story is way better in there and finally, we'll get to see a tournament arc!

I don’t think this was the end end for One Punch Man, as I am pretty sure the manga is way ahead of the anime. The season 2 doesn’t complete the manga either.
