Ch.18 I Was Bullied So Hard I Was Isekai'ed Into A World of Sword And Magic And Emerged As The Lightning Samurai God To Hatefuck My Former Bully Until She Got Heart Eyes

— Paul Greyrat (One Year and Nine Months Later) —

Paul’s green eyes slowly opened and stared at the ceiling. He let out a yawn and groggily pushed himself up. His tired eyes moved over to the window and saw how hard the sun was beating down on them.

He had slept in again.

Paul silently cursed as he pushed himself out of bed and started to get dressed.

Being inactive and waking up late were two things Paul hated across his life. He hated women that were inactive and disliked working out even more, but that tidbit of information was besides the point now.

He always liked to get up early and start his day with his wives. In his mind, the longer he was awake, the more time he had in the day, and the more time he had to spend with his wives and daughters, and for a long time he was right about that-

Until he was forced to stay up later than he’d like.

The Fittoa Region had its fair share of monster incidents, but there was no insanely large den of monsters gathered around the region, so as a protecting knight of Buena Village had been relatively peaceful all Paul’s life. He got paid by Philip and the farmers that lived here just by existing and occasionally going out to slay monsters. He also had two beautiful wives and two daughters that only grew more beautiful by the day.

He was living the dream…

But recently there has been a steady increase in the number of monsters that have moved on Buena Village. It’s gotten so bad to the point that Paul’s nights are spent fighting the monsters back with the other knights employed in their village.

Because of this, Paul comes home late and when he does, he finds his wives sleeping… and all the fighting and exhaustion in the world wouldn’t stop Paul from having his fun with his wives, even if they fell asleep before he returned. Which they usually didn’t out of concern for him, so he felt obligated to return some loving back to them.

Yes, he did it out of obligation… totally not because Zenith and Lilia both had massive breasts that just needed to be squeezed and groped.

Paul crossed his arms and nodded to himself sagely. He may be forced to stay out all night to kill monsters, but he knew he was doing it for the best reason a man could.

Everything led back to his wives and daughters, his family.

A sad smile came to Paul’s face as he remembered his own father. In the years Paul had spent raising Rudy and Law, then Norn and Aisha, he realised that his kids were like a part of him.

If one of them just decided to cut ties with him… he didn’t know what he would have done.

The way he had just walked out on his father… it wasn’t right, but Paul didn’t regret doing it.

As Paul opened the door to his room and walked down the stairs, he looked at the reasons why he wouldn’t change a thing about his life.

“Papa!” His first daughter, the blonde bundle of joy lit up at the sight of her father. Paul opened his hands as Norn ran into his embrace.

“Heh, someone’s excited, has your day been good so far?”

“Mmm!” Norn beamed as she pointed over to her mother who was standing there with a letter.

“A letter?” Paul raised a brow.

“Oh dear it’s a great day! Rudy and Law sent letters and a package too!” Zenith smiled brightly, making Paul pause as his eyes widened.

They had… sent letters?

For the entire time they had been away there had been silence, no letters… so what changed now?

Paul had actually hoped things would stay that way, and it had even been his intention to tell the two that they couldn’t send letters, but he had forgotten to tell them before they left.

Paul didn’t ask for the job only because Law could train under Ghislaine and Rudy could make some money teaching his cousin. He also offered it for Sylphiette’s sake.

That girl had become so dependent on Rudy and Law, so much so that if anything happened to the two boys, she would have crumbled in on herself. They were her entire life, and for her to be a strong woman, she needed her own independence, to live on her own accord.

And now she had gained it, Sylphiette had changed, and as her father’s friend and coworker, he was overjoyed by it.

Paul narrowed his eyes at the envelope and noticed that it was opened. Then he looked at the table behind where Lilia was standing and saw that there were a few there as well that were opened.

“Did you all read the letters without me?” Paul asked with disappointment and sadness lacing his tone. He hadn’t wanted his sons to send letters, but if they already had, then Paul wanted to be there when his family read them!

“Oh yes… but it’s because Rudy and Law wrote to each of us individually.” Zenith clarified and while her words made Paul feel a bit better, he was still upset.

“If it interests you, My Lord, your letter and the package have remained unopened.” Lilia helpfully supplied. Paul smiled slightly, that did make him feel much better.

“Good, then let’s see what our sons have been up to.” Paul chuckled as he walked forward and took a seat at the table. Immediately Norn hopped into his lap and Paul couldn’t bring himself to argue with the little girl.

He opened the envelope and pulled out the two papers within. He looked at each of them and saw both were letters marked by his sons. One was from Rudy and one was from Law.

Paul set Law’s aside as he looked at his eldest son’s letter.

He read through it with a small smile on his face the entire time. Rudy went into detail about how his life had been ever since setting out to Roa. The boy talked about his magic and explained how he was looking forward to attending Ranoa when they acquired the funds, and he even mentioned his occasional attempt at swordsmanship where he would spar with Eris, but usually those spars wouldn’t end well for him unless he used magic.

As Paul finished the letter he had to admit it was bittersweet. He was happy to hear his son was doing well, but a part of him was showered with regret. He and Rudy had got along well enough, but now that Paul really thought about it, most of his attention and effort had gone into Law, his prodigy son with the blade.

A swordsman son… that was all he had ever wanted, but the older Paul got, the more he realised that cute daughters and a brilliant mage as a son worked just as fine.

He’d have to talk to Rudy whenever the boy got back. Then… maybe he could make it up to his boy.

Paul noticed Zenith and Lilia standing behind him, trying to read his letter over his shoulder. Paul’s smile returned as he passed his wives the letter and let them read it personally now that he was done.

“Oh, Rudy picked up a sword again?” Zenith noticed with slightly widened eyes. “I thought he’d never give it another chance.”

“He’s my son, Zenith, the ability to wield a blade runs through his veins.” Paul nodded sagely, as if his words were the most obvious thing ever.

“Papa, is big brother Rudeus as good as you?” Norn asked cutely as she looked up at him, and Paul noticed Aisha pouting behind Lilia’s leg.

A chuckle escaped Paul as he held out his hand to his youngest daughter. The red-haired girl hesitantly stepped forward before giggling as Paul yoinked her into his arms. He sat her on his other leg so both daughters could sit on his lap.

“Sorry to say Norn, but Rudeus wouldn’t stand a chance against your old man!” Paul laughed and both girls giggled as well.

“Papa’s the strongest mmm!” Aisha looked up at Paul with happiness and joy that it made Paul’s heart skip a beat.

Paul had to clear his throat to keep himself composed or he probably would have smothered the poor girls with kisses.

“Hehe.” Paul rubbed under his nose before a hand was placed on his shoulder.

Zenith leaned down and smiled at Aisha and Norn before bringing her other hand to her face as if telling them a secret.

“You girls wouldn’t believe this…. but Law is stronger than your Papa.”

“Wha?!” / “Uwah?!” Norn and Aisha shouted in surprise and Zenith nodded with a sly smirk as she side-eyed Paul who deflated at his wife’s words.

As proud as he was of Law… every father deserves to be looked up to by his daughters.

Stupid Law and his stupid potential!

“Papa… is that true?” Norn asked with curious eyes and Paul could do nothing but sigh and nod.

He had lost to his son and the boy wasn’t even here… the girls would go on to praise Law more than their good father.

The world is cruel… so cruel.

“If it pleases you, My Lord, I believe you should take a look at Young Master Law’s letter.” Lilia helpfully reminded Paul, snapping him out of his haze.

“Oh… right, yes, I will do that.”

“Mmm!” Aisha beamed as she turned to the letter that Paul had set aside. Paul picked it up and with everyone around waiting for him this time, decided to just read it aloud instead.

“Dear Father… It has been so long since we last spoke. How have you been? I admit, I have missed you and the rest of our family dearly. So much time has passed and I’m sure Norn and Aisha have grown a lot. When we set off to work, they were just babies, but I’m sure they have developed into well behaved children and I look forward to seeing them again-” Paul looked down at the two girls in his lap before bursting out laughing.

Well behaved! What a joke!

Rudy and Law were well behaved! Norn and Aisha are what Paul, Zenith, and Lilia expected of children! They cry, they babble about nonsense, and they wet themselves even at this age.

But he loves them all the same for it.

“Shut your mouth!” Zenith shouted behind him as she gave him a light smack on the head, stopping the laughter.

“Papa… you’re mean.” Aisha pouted and Paul rubbed her head apologetically.

“I’m sorry to both of you, Law just doesn’t know any better.” Paul offered both soothing touches that made them behave and return their attention to the letter.

“-As for myself, I’m doing great! Roa is very beautiful and the Boreas Greyrat mansion is very spacious and well decorated! I’m sure mother would love the gardens here and all the greenery! The beast women are subservient to the family and very good at cleaning as well so Rudy and I have little need for anything-”

Paul paused to internally smirk at his son's words.

The beastwomen are subservient eh… that’s his boy. He wouldn’t be a true Greyrat if he didn’t take an interest in some exotic women, especially ones that would carry out every order given without a second thought.

Not even ten years old and Law had cracked the code, Paul was almost jealous of his boy. He was turning out to just be a stronger version of him!

Which was both good and bad.

Maybe Paul would need to scold him later to respect women and their boundaries. He could silently celebrate any beautiful women his son manages to conquer, but outwardly he should be a strict father.

Yes… that was how he was going to play this game.

Paul nodded sagely. He was three steps ahead.

“Why did you stop, dear?” Zenith eyed him with genuine confusion before she took in his smile and realised it was perverted. Her confusion shifted into restrained anger. “Dear, would your mind happen to be on your two loving wives, or is it out there in the gutter again?”

Paul began to sweat at her accusatory words and decided maybe Law’s letter could calm his wife down!

“-My duty under the family is to guard Lady Eris Boreas Greyrat, and I have to say I’m pretty good at my job! My typical day consists of waking up, breakfast, then sword training with Eris, Ghislaine, and the occasional spar with Rudy, then I follow Eris around to her classes and make sure she’s protected. Whenever I’m free I practise my magic, but I must admit I’ve stagnated quite a bit in that field-”

Paul almost couldn’t believe what he read.

Law… the prodigy son of his had stagnated?!

“-That being said, my progress in Sword God Style has remained steady under the great tutelage of Sword King Ghislaine. She’s been a great teacher, so much so that I’ve even managed to reach the rank of Sword Saint—Yes!” Paul stopped reaching and shouted with pure joy. His boy had done it!

“Oh wow, Sword Saint at his age?!” Zenith gasped in surprise as she looked down at Paul and was brimming with joy. Had his daughters not been in his lap he would have shot up and began walking around the house to cool himself down!

“His potential has always been high. It would appear I was correct to anticipate such growth.” Lilia closed her eyes and smiled. “That boy is something else.”

“Sword Saint?” Norn tilted her head in confusion.

Paul looked down at his daughters and realised they didn’t understand what had him, Zenith, and Lilia so happy.

“Ah, that’s right. Tell me girls, do you remember the three Sword Styles I told you both about?” Paul asked, earning a nod from both. “Well there is a ranking in which each of them goes Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, then God. When Law left our village he was Advanced in all three Sword Styles, like me, but it seems his time with Ghislaine has helped him reach Saint Level in Sword God Style.”

“Oh wow!” Aisha shouted, understanding Paul’s words but Paul could see that Norn was still a bit confused.

“All you need to know, Norn, is that Law is stronger than Papa.” Zenith added helpfully, earning a slow nod from Norn.

Paul knew he had lost to his son now. If Law was a Sword Saint, then even Paul’s experience with the blade wouldn’t help him against Law. To have learned Longsword of Light has raised the boy’s ability to new heights!

Paul doubted anyone below Saint level themselves would even give Law a fight, especially with his absurd Battle Aura.

“-I have made good progress since my promotion and Ghislaine says it’s only a matter of time and a few techniques before I can be promoted to Sword King—how much did we miss?!” Paul’s eyes widened again. His boy was growing too fast!

“You’re the one that sent them away.” Zenith frowned and Paul let out a sigh. He had expected Law to grow, but to be on cusp of becoming a Sword King after only four years of being away was crazy!

Paul knew Law had potential, but to grow this fast while being as young as he is just showed how much potential he truly had!

Paul had expected Law to peak around Sword King, or maybe push his strength up to Sword Emperor, but if he continued at this rate, he could potentially be a Sword Emperor or even take the title of Sword God by his fifteenth birthday!

Perhaps that was wishful thinking, but his son was beating the odds every chance he got! Paul didn’t doubt it was only a matter of time before he found his son’s name among the Seven!

“-I will continue to work hard and see how far I can go with the blade and I have you to thank for instilling that drive into me, Father. Your words have inspired me to pick up the blade everyday and work hard, not just for the family I have back in Buena Village, but also the family I will start myself when I’m old enough.”

“I hope the best for you, Father, and I hope for our family’s health to prosper. In the time we’ve been here, Rudeus and I have managed to gather enough funds for three paid scholarships to Ranoa Magic University. Thanks to my promotion, my wage has increased from five silver coins to one gold coin per month. As such, our need to work for the Boreas Greyrat has come to an end, but the family has welcomed us to stay as long as we like until we’re ready to set out.”

“We will return home within the year and we look forward to seeing you and the rest of our family when we do. Until then, Father, please keep our family safe in our absence as you have been doing all this time.

“Your son, Law Greyrat.” Paul finished quietly.

The room was quiet for several seconds after the final words left Paul’s mouth.

“… Our boys are coming home!” Zenith shouted suddenly as her feet tapped the hardwood floor with excitement.

“It would seem so, My Lady.” Lilia showed a rare wide grin at Zenith’s words.

“It was only a matter of time, Law and Rudeus’ wages combined… I was surprised they had not come sooner.” Paul half lied. He hadn’t actually known how much either of them was being paid, and he was surprised by how much Law was making, so much so to the point that it left him sceptical.

The wage wasn’t unusual for a hired Saint Level Swordsman, but it was unusual for Philip to pay that rate knowing that Law and Rudy are desperate. He could have undercut Law all the way down to about seven silver coins a month… yet he didn’t.

“Aren’t you excited, Dear?!” Zenith asked as she took Norn into her arms and looked at him.

“Of course I am, I can’t wait.” Paul nodded, deciding to put his unrest off until later.

“We should celebrate tonight! how about a feast?!” Zenith offered and the girls cheered in approval.

“Sounds like a plan.” Paul stood up and stretched his tired body.

“My Lord, My Lady, I believe you both are both forgetting the package.” Lilia said before looking at the box that was sitting on the table, unopened.

“Oh wow, how did we forget about the most interesting thing our boys sent?” Zenith tilted her head in confusion as she moved back toward the table with Norn in her arms.

“I don’t know, Law left us caught up in his achievements I guess.” Paul frowned as he moved back to the chair and sat back down before pulling the package over to him.

“The Young Master seems to have that effect.” Lilia pointed out fondly. Paul eyed her for a bit before smiling. Ever since Law had healed her leg, Lilia had been incredibly loving toward Law and would even talk about him and wish him well while he was gone. It definitely helped in making Zenith more accepting of Paul’s second marriage, even if the adjustment period had been pretty hard initially.

“Open the box, Papa!” Aisha demanded that she hopped back into his lap.

“Aisha, you are not to make demands of the Lord.” Lilia scolded and Aisha pouted.

“This much should be fine, Lilia.” Paul chuckled nervously but didn’t fight further as he saw her giving him a scolding look. Instead, he turned his attention to the package and began opening it.

As he slid off the cover, he paused at the sight of a few objects. Upon reaching in, Paul pulled out three magic wands that were very similar to the ones Roxy gave to both of his sons. There was a little note right under it that Paul pulled out.

“Please give one of these wands to Sylphy, along with the letters we have packed as well. Rudeus and Law.” Paul read out to the family as she showed the family the note.

“Then the other two wands…” Zenith trailed off as everyone looked at Norn and Aisha and both looked incredibly confused.

“Hm?” Norn shrunken in on herself under the stares of her family.

Paul hummed in understanding. Rudy and Law sent three wands. One for Sylphy, and the other two for Norn and Aisha. He anticipates they’ll become mages, or at least wants to give them wands before they start?

Paul didn’t know but he was curious what his sons’ intentions were. He’d know in time when they returned home.

Paul reached into the box and pulled out the two envelopes that were definitely for young Sylphiette. He considered keeping them hidden, but he knew he would only gain his wives’ anger along with Sylphy’s if he kept the letters away from the young girl.

Paul put the letters aside and focused on the stack of papers at the bottom of the box. He pulled them all out and read the note on one of them.

“I’ve worked on my drawing from time to time and I thought I would share some of the things I’ve sketched—Law.” Paul read out as he turned the top paper and his eyes widened.

It was a drawing of a boy that Paul immediately recognized as Rudeus sparring with a young girl that he assumed was young Eris. The drawing was not coloured but the detail in it was undeniable.

“Oh my!” Zenith breathed out as she swiped the paper from Paul’s hand.

With nothing left to look at, Paul continued going through the papers and he was surprised again and again when the next three papers all had drawings on them.

The second was a sketch of the Citadel of Roa, perhaps on a taller structure like the clock tower looking downward. It perfectly encapsulated the feeling Paul had when he had last visited Roa with Zenith many years ago.

The third sketch was of Ghislaine, drawn in fine detail. Even her tail looked fuzzy and Paul had to admire just how good his son was at the arts.

The fourth and last sketch made Paul’s heart slow as an involuntary smile crossed his lips.

It was a drawing of the entire Boreas Greyrat family, along with his sons, Ghislaine, and some of the beast women maids standing aside.

Of all the drawings, it without a doubt had the most detail. Law even managed to add himself into the drawing somehow and just by looking at the drawing, Paul could tell how much his sons had grown.

“Papa, is that them?!” Aisha pointed at the last image where the two boys were standing next to each other, smiling at the viewer.

“It is.” Paul nodded with a fond smile.

“Where!” Norn shouted as she wiggled out of her mother’s arms and ran back into his lap. She climbed up and stared intently at the drawing of her brothers.

“This sketch of Sword King Ghislaine is impeccable art work.” Lilia admitted as she inspected the paper.

“That’s my Law! Good with the blade, good with magic, and good with the arts! It’s only a matter of time before he finds a nice young lady to give me grandchildren!” Zenith cooed and let out a fond sigh at the thought.

Paul chuckled nervously. The boy was too good at the things he did. Zenith should be less focused on grandkids and more focused on how many women the boy would entice with his skills.

Paul already knew the sword could help a man find their way into a woman’s panties, that much he had learned through years of experience. However, he knew smooth talking and a taste for the gentler side of things could get you into a lady’s heart as well.

Law… seemed to be good at both. The amount of women he seduced would rely solely on how many he wishes to have—and Paul knew for a fact that Zenith would not be happy if either of her sons came home with more than one wife.

Paul wished them the best and smiled one last time at the drawings.

Now more than ever, he wanted to see his sons, and he was happy to know that it was only a matter of time before he would.

“My boys are so kind to have sent us so much to fill their absences.” Zenith frowned cutely. “We’ll need to pay them back, especially Rudy.”

“Wait… why Rudy?” Paul raised a brow. Law had definitely given more, the drawings were stunning.

“Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten!” Zenith asked with an affronted look.

“Forgot what… oh.” Paul paused as realisation struck him. Zenith stared at him coldly, while Lilia stared at him with disapproval. The man of the house realised that no matter how many monsters he slew tonight, he was not going to get any comfort or warmth from his wives tonight.

How the hell did he forget his own son’s tenth birthday?!

Comments

It’s been 4 years. Check ch.16 for the first big skip. They got sent earlier in this fic by a couple years I believe. Been a while since I wrote that portion so I don’t remember how old exactly.

Kakukami

Nice interlude chapter! Thanks for all the great work!

"but to be on cusp of becoming a Sword King after only four years of being away was crazy!" Uhh, im pretty sure theyve only been away for 2 years. Especially since it said 1 year and 9 months later, right?? How old are Law and Rudeus now, even? And how old were they went they were sent out to work for the Boreas family?? Rudeus was 7 in canon when he was sent away and 10 when the teleport incident happened. Now I wonder if Rudy and Law will leave early to return to the village? Hmm... "sceptical" --> "skeptical"
