The beginning is just the introduction of the Goblin and Eun Tak, and some of the other people in their lives. If you noticed during the scene where the old lady turned into a young lady in red and met Sungjae (DeokHwa), it says 10 years later! Goblin is a god, an immortal. Not a ghost, so others can see him. The Grim Reaper can choose whether to let people see them or not. The place full of flowers, I am guessing it's kinda like a secret spot of the Goblin? The house him and Grim Reaper is in is just a normal house they live in like humans do :D So basically Deokhwa signed a rental contract with the Grim Reaper, and signing contracts with Grim Reapers is never a good thing (death), so Grim Reaper is 'threatening' Goblin, if he doesn't let him stay, he will take Deokhwa away.
