February Update
Added 2023-02-02 06:47:10 +0000 UTCI did want to put up an update post this month just to keep folks in the loop, but things have been a bit odd this month.
The good news is that the OGL Crisis has been resolved, and we won. 5e is under the creative commons and that means a lot of good things for the future. The bad news is that in the month of turmoil, frankly a lot of things I'd planned to get done I didn't.
- I've just put up Kibbles' Feat Compendium, along with its Foundry module. That's one of the things I'd hoped to get done last month, even if there was a bit more I'd hoped would be in by now.
- There's the Kickstarter, which is live now. It's had an amazing launch, and made the future even brighter for 5e for me.
But a lot of other stuff has gotten pushed. I'll now be working to catch up on that, but I'm definitely somewhat behind, spending last month entirely too much on lawyers and Twitter (too great evils of the world bent to doing good last month...), and of course getting the Kickstarter ready in hurry, as I was worried the window to launch it would close.
In brief because I've said I'd talk about it but never really did, with the way things are I plan to keep making stuff for 5e. I may work on some system agnostic stuff, but from my point of view, 5e is basically our game now, and to me that's the best possible outcome - there's a lot I'd like to do with it. Here's what I see in the future:
- The Kickstarter, obviously. Bringing a huge wave of content to print and VTT, and even more with the stretch goals, we'll see a lot of updates for the content related to it here and all channels.
- As someone that's always left their work open for other folks to use, I'm going to look at some of my work to start adding to Creative Commons - make it truly free and open to use; an SRD+ of sorts for folks that; probably including the Generic Elemental Spells to start with.
- I'm currently formulating plans, but I think there's a good chance I'll release a fully compatible 5e updated 5e SRD; a 5.5 of sorts. My focus of this will very much be on being actually compatible with 5e, and this will probably not be my main focus, but more a collection of all the modular rules I add built into one more cohesive thing.
None of those are the future of the patreon, just what I feel like I'll be looking for in the creative commons license and 5e.
As for the regular updates, honestly half the things are just the things I wanted to do next month, but here's what I hope to get to this month:
- Blood Magic 1.0. This is overdue, and now it's even part of the Kickstarter, so it's going to be a high priority to finish the second pass on this. Bloodforger and Cultist will get some updates, particularly with some more content for Cultist (which I'm happy to say has tested pretty well, but I have some more ideas on how to flesh out... flesh out is probably a bad choice of words for it isn't it...)
- Spellblade 1.0. Spellblade has a poll result winner and a bunch of new art coming. I expect it'll get an update next week, if not sooner. A few tweaks, but I don't expect a major overhaul. Some more utility and higher level boosts perhaps.
- Warden 1.2. Warden likewise has a subclass poll winner, and is getting toward another update getting ready for it. Almost certainly this month, but probably later than the spellblade. I don't expect massive changes, but some changes.
- Occultist 1.3.2. This will not have a new subclass, but while I was updating it for the CC license, I decided to go through and catch up on the playtesting updates for it. For those worried about losing spells, there will be an Occultist Fan Content patch for anyone that wants to add back in spells. Fair bit of small changes with some updates to Witch and Oracle, nothing drastic mostly just new options and making some of the underperforming options slightly better.
I don't think there's too much I should promise at the moment more than that, but I do hope to get more done, but I think this is one of those months where I just need to crack away at things and see where I can get. I'd expect a pretty healthy update of what we have at the end of the month.
Anyway... hell of a start to the year folks, but fortunately we can leave Wizards and lawyers behind and get back to making stuff for playing fun games.
All the best,
-Kibbles

Figures. Thanks for the info though. Don't suppose anyone knows something like DnD Beyond that would work better with the new ones?

2023-02-03 04:44:50 +0000 UTCUnfortunately D&D Beyond does not support 3rd party classes, so there's no easy way. Some folks have done various work arounds, but there's no official/convenient way to do it.

2023-02-03 01:12:19 +0000 UTCThis might be a dumb question, but, on the subject of the new classes, is there a way to use them with DnD Beyond? I couldn't find a way, but I might just be blind I figure.
