Addressing WoM questions and releasing a FAQ
Added 2023-05-07 00:01:21 +0000 UTCOkay, I'm here to address the many questions you guys have had about the development status and the legality of making this project Patreon-only at the moment.
- Why isn't the mod available to the public? Can Mojang use the EULA to take down this project?
Answer: I've received threats claiming that this project is illegal and should be taken down. However, it's important to understand that you are not paying for the actual mod. In reality, you are choosing to support me financially during the beta testing phase, and in return, you get to try a very early and buggy version of my in-development addon for Epic Fight.
- Will the mod eventually be available to the public? If so, when?
Answer: The mod will become public when the next release of Epic Fight is out. While I cannot guarantee it will coincide with the next release of Epic Fight, I am certain that it will be available. There might be a small testing phase here on Patreon to address any remaining bugs.
- What about versions 1.16.5 and 1.19.2?
Answer: The availability of the mod for 1.16.5 will depend mainly on the community. As for 1.19.2, I will consider updating Weapons of Minecraft when/if Epic Fight updates to that version.
- Is it possible to have a config file or datapacks to change weapon attributes?
Answer: No, it is not possible.
Each weapon has been carefully balanced through extensive testing. The attributes of each weapon have been meticulously tuned to maintain balance between their pros and cons and to ensure balance among all weapons. This process was time-consuming, and modifying these values could render the weapon's gameplay obsolete or boring.
There are numerous options available through other mods to increase stats. I encourage you to invest time in understanding the weapon you want to improve, as knowledge can increase your damage more than a stat increase.
There are other minor reasons why I don't want to implement this feature, and I ask you to take the time to understand the weapon before attempting to modify it.
- Are you going to make your source code public?
Answer: Yes, absolutely. However, my coding style is somewhat "childish," resembling extreme voodoo spaghetti. For now, the source code will remain private until I finish testing various aspects.
- Are you taking commissions?
Answer: No, I used to take commissions before, but it had a negative impact on my well-being and made me depressed. It's difficult for me to explain how I felt during that time, but it wasn't a good experience.
- Where can I access the early access version?
Answer: A few posts below this one, you will find Weapons of Minecraft 1.6 for Minecraft 1.18.2. At the bottom of the page, you'll also find a version for 1.16.5, which I will not update. It's there temporarily until I decide what to do with it.
Comments
thank you very much for your comment ! i'm planning on releasing a lot of major updates to WoM with more mobs, bosses, structures and even more weapons. I don't think i will do other add-on beside the two that i've allready made ( epicfight pirates and dual greatsword) and another one that is in devellopement. But once i'll be done with WoM i'll start making my own Video Games.

2023-05-22 16:01:47 +0000 UTCDunno what idiot is threatening you but legally you're in the clear. While it'd be nice to have a public release for modpacks and people to see your great mod, and when you do it will hopefully bring more patreon support for current and future projects. Definitely have your links ready to your patreon and socials that are mod related when you go public. Older versions of Dawncraft and other packs have had eyes on this gem for a while so it's sure to see a lot of downloads. Do you have any plans for other projects? Maybe organize future weapons to certain themes that don't align perfectly for WoM into a newer mod? EF ranged theme weapons, historical type weapons as some examples you have a lot of room for opportunity to create and take from all sorts of content if you continued with EF extensions. There's a lot of basic mods that the forge community is missing as well and great things like plug-in markets so there's a lot of options to take, don't stop creating! You'll have my support through out this year,
