Trying WAY too hard since they literally copied the exact plot of Oolong's first episode. Not only that they elongated it into TWO episodes...

You can tell the writers of these early on episodes we’re trying way to hard to make it like early dragon ball. Pans brattiness is suppose to mirror bulmas, it just doesn’t work the same. Trunks isn’t necessarily 1:1 with anybody, but goku is obv just goku. Down to not being able to fly sometimes, being really weak (in comparison to how he should be at this point) even trunks and Pan are weaker than they should be. Shrinking down goku was a silly idea, but it wasn’t the entire issue with the show.
