Talking to another giant woman was always a little dicey. They both knew that one mistake could make the other grow uncontrollably, and since they both understood the pain associated with that growth, neither wanted to do it to the other.
“Hey…” Sam replied, eyeing her warily.
Hitomi gave Sam a quizzical look, trying to guess her reactive source. “Motor oil?” Hitomi guessed from Sam’s dirty appearance.
“No…” Sam answered, carefully. “Animals?” Sam guessed, going right to the top of her mental list of things you’d never find in a coffee shop.
“No…” Hitomi answered. “Last change of clothes?” Hitomi asked.
“Yeah.” Sam came back, begrudgingly.
