Scammer Extorted By Russian FSB (UPDATE)

A few years ago we reported on Safemoon, a coin that had "automagically locked liquidity".

That was a lie and the founders were stealing from the cookie jar, and I exposed it...

A year later the DOJ/FBI arrested 2 of the founders while a third (Kyle Nagy) wasn't found, and is believed to be on the run.

Now a Russian source is reporting that Kyle has been extorted by 2 men for over $4 million dollars. Supposedly these men have connections to the Russian FSB which is like their version of the CIA.

My only caution on this story is that it's hard to verify beyond this one source. I don't speak Russian, however it would seem like an odd thing to fake since Kyle Nagy is neither a celebrity or a hot topic.

I've linked the screenshots that were shared in case anyone wants to take a look themselves.

Big news in the US Crypto world. "US National Crypto Reserve". EO signed to develop a national digital asset stockpile. I guess it's impossible to go back to the gold reserve at this point. Can't buy gold with deficit spending

MassiveLayoffs

Unrelated, but was curious if you had heard about the ledger cofounder kidnapping story that is circulating now. The more I read about this the more it seems like something you might be very interested in. Hope you're well!

Олег

Well, quite a lot of people on the inside don't seem to understand it either. Bizzare, really.

What do we call the void when it's a Patreon exclusive? The "Patreoid?"

Ross Vincent

Interesting that Signal is being used from your source when I’ve heard it’s quite unsecured. Thanks for your work Coffee! Always looking forward to every update both on main channel and void!

Greg

Those guys are so annoying on x

All of these goobers run away to Dubai and Russia. I wonder how much dark money Dubai has at this point. It’s basically the modern day “Night City” from Cyberpunk

When the potential truth is better than any distorted clickbait title. We are living in interesting times.

James O'Dwyer

Kyle's statement looks translated, I can imagine him not learning russian language in advance though :)

Sergey

It's interesting that people on the outside don't really understand how bad things are in Russia. This guy was sweet talked into getting his Golden Visa and got mugged because he thought this people are trustworthy, where in reality they don't give single shit about anything. Lying, deceiving, robbing and killing people is just their day to day operations.

Sergey

❤️

Coffeezilla

Agreed

Good insight

Seems believable to me. It's not the first time FSB (similar US agency is FBI by the way, not CIA) gets involved in crypto, they helped oligarch Konstantin Malofeev to hostile take over btc-e and still deeply affiliated with russian crypto exchanges. Source of the docs is "ВЧК-ОГПУ" which is huge anonymous channel posting leaks from police, it's better to take it with a grain of salt, but in this case I don't see the reason for them to fake it.

Sergey

This is going to be interesting maybe life is truly a movie Love from germany

Ok, I was too focused on a "Nagy" and kinda ignored "Kyle Thomas", sorry. But misspells are still weird. Unless that's how he pronounced words and whoever wrote them down decided to keep it that way. But it's only three or four words in the entire conversation. Everything else is spelled correctly.

Paul Stepchenko

I feel for his wife, who doesn't appear to be involved, and definitely for his kids. They are just along for the ride, and it must be so scary for them.

Katie Baker

For the same reason people flock to Red Note to evade the TikTok ban. People in countries that has been high trust for a long time have grown uninformed and gullible.

Marcus

Spotted a couple of word that are spelled wrong. Also this "Kyle Nagy Thomas" says some things in a weird manner. Could be that russian is not a mother tongue for him though.

Paul Stepchenko

Russia is known for not extraditing to the US. Hence why Edward Snowden went there for example.

Coffeezilla

You mean they might promote you to be a close friend and confidant of Putin, the ultimate global thug? Yea... I'd be afraid of that too. It tends to end badly. Ask Prigozhin.

Liz Matzelle

Maybe I'm just thick, by why would a guy run to Russia to escape the law? I don't know about extradition laws, but I'd be more afraid of what the Russians might do to me once they found out I was a criminal.

James Rule

Imagine my shock that Russians would steal money from you
