[Requesting feedback] Early Access content?
Added 2019-01-09 21:45:58 +0000 UTCHey folks, got a few more things I'd like to discuss in terms of how my Patreon functions. This time, the topic is trying to find a balance between early access content and publicly-available posts.
I have way too many talking points on this matter, so I'll just start off with a few of my thoughts and where I'm coming from:
- I don't produce enough content, in general. This is something I'm going to work on regardless, just wanted to mention it.
- I feel like my pages/galleries have been left in the dust compared to friends and other artists who produce more content and, more importantly, public content.
- Whenever I have an idea, I have to choose between making it a full-color pic that I can tease on Patreon or doing a quick, rough doodle that will just sit on Patreon for a week. This is particularly problematic when hot, new trends/characters are sweeping the internet, not to mention it can be creatively draining and/or unsatisfying.
- I honestly feel a lot of guilt both ways. Constantly pushing my Patreon on people feels like I'm sending the message that I'm only in this for the money. Meanwhile, it feels like I'm betraying what all you wonderful people have chosen to support anytime I change up my rewards and how I operate.
I might make a follow-up post based on your feedback, but for now, I'd like to propose the following changes:
- Most WIPs and rough doodles will be available publicly from the get-go
- Some doodles may go up on Patreon first, if they look nice enough (maybe this could include WIPs of vote characters too?)
- Full-color pics will still be part of early access
- High-res pics will still be available only on Patreon
- I plan to start experimenting with alternate versions of pics (lingerie, nude, milk, etc.), these will always appear on Patreon first
None of these changes are in-effect yet, but they're things I'd like to try out and see how they affect both my artistic motivation and online presence. Please let me know what you think of all this (or just leave a vote below)!
