This is such a great argument for a one-state solution. I think I will share it with my DSA chapter. There's a resolution up for debate in the DSA as to whether we should officially endorse a one-state solution. Thank you for your work

The biggest problem is the will of the Israeli polity after October 7, which is basically genocidal. The second-biggest problem would be, hypothetically, Palestinian revanchism. I still think this despite every rebuttal offered. You can point to Belgium and South Africa, but I point to Lebanon, which has not recovered from its civil war, to Rwanda, and to every place that has Balkanized after first undergoing a bloody civil war. India and Pakistan might still fight the world's first nuclear war because a one-state solution failed! (While the parallel is far from perfect, Hindus did and do still believe themselves to be undoing Muslim colonial subjugation of their land.) Why the particular contortions of Israeli apartheid would make mass reprisals less likely there than elsewhere, I do not know. But to restate, this won't happen anyway while Israelis have any say in it. However brutal an ordeal it would be to coerce the settlers to leave the West Bank for a two-state solution, it would be a million times worse to convince Israelis to accept Palestinians as coequal citizens. But a two-state solution is also impossible. At least the UN and the Arab League support it, though, so in one's headcanon it could more easily be forced upon Israel by an international peacekeeping force. I have no hope at all. I believe that the West Bank will eventually suffer the same fate as Gaza. The effects will rebound throughout my lifetime. The problem will not go away. Not every problem does. Congo and Sudan come to mind.

It is heartbreaking to see what Palestinians have experienced and continue to, in the name of a group that claims supremacy over them. I hope all Nakba survivors can live and use their home keys at last; as well as scholars, advocates, and freedom fighters in the last few decades (finkelstein, among others). They all deserve a free Palestine, and I can't help but feel its getting closer and closer to becoming a reality.
