That would be good, to dispel the impression that GDF might be unwittingly falling into the orbit of the "Al-Jazeera sphere". Pardon me for sounding conspiratorial here, but this is a real soft power project, reflecting the interests of Turkey as well as Qatar. It is a little brother to the dominant NATO and Russia/China propaganda axes, but still powerful in its own right and hegemonic among Anglophone liberals who care about Palestine. It reflects an especial concern for Sunni Muslim populations, but in defiance of Saudi/UAE hegemony. The "Al-Jazeera sphere" is concerned with the plight of the following Sunnis: Palestinians (against NATO), Kashmiris (against NATO), Afghans during the US occupation (against NATO); but also Rohingya (against Russia/China), and Chechens (against Russia/China). This lines up well with GDF's catalog. However, the sphere is conspicuously unconcerned with the plight of Kurds, Alawites and other non-Sunni minorities in Syria, because regime change in Syria was a key goal of Turkey and Qatar, and Sunni sectarian dominance has been the upshot of that project. There is ethnic cleansing going on in Syria now at the hands of the ruling ex-Al Qaeda clique, but you'll never hear about it within the Al-Jazeera sphere just as you'll never hear about it within the NATO-sphere. I trust GDF can escape the gravitational pull of one propaganda sphere without falling into another, but it is not easy to do.
