Thus concludes Sarah's 50th birthday party! This scene and the David scene went through a tonnnnnn of rewrites. It's been quite difficult to figure out where these conversations should fall, how much they should cover, how long they should go on, etc. For example, this Nick and Charlie moment was originally going to come right at the end of the chapter, but I'd not been feeling good about keeping Charlie's 'Nick going away' anxieties around riiiiiight until the final moments of the chapter. Also, often in my writing I have a tendency to overexplain, wanting characters to get out every single emotion they might be feeling and put words to it. But in this volume I've been trying to encourage myself to let some things sit in subtext, or be expressed in smaller, simpler ways, and trust that the reader will get it and feel what the characters are feeling.
And that's the that on that. Onwards!

I am currently no longer able to afford my patreon subscription anymore and as of tomorrow it will run out so this is such a beautiful, possibly finale page for me. I use to comment alot more back 2 years ago and I do wish I still did, waking up to a new page drop and eagerly analysing every detail was truly the highlight of alot of my days and I wouldn't have changed any of it. Hopefully I will be able to rejoin in a month or so right before the story wraps up to be here for that cause that would be incredibly important to me as this series holds so much value in my heart. You're a fantastic artist and incredible storyteller Alice and I hope to be here for the conclusion of this beautiful story
