Mahito wasn't fighting like this against Nanami because he didn't know yet he could transform his own body without consequence. From his experiments on humans, the transformation easily led to death. He only realised this at the end of the fight when he was pushed in a corner and forced to transform to survive Nanami's attack. Thank you for the reaction!
