It is always good to remember that every character has a limited perspective, this is a sign of good writing and reflects reality. At times of war especially in the past information becomes limited, the less the enemy know about you and your capabilities the more they have to stretch their resources. If you don't know how or where the enemy could attack you have to be prepared for all possibilities. The sinking of the scout ships are obviously showing this, the Marlyeans are in the dark knowing nothing of Paradis island for the past 4 years. Limiting information also has another purpose both in wartime and peacetime, propaganda. Attack on titan is one of the best examples in all of fiction how devastatingly effective propaganda can be. Island devils, devils of Paradis, devil bloods. Its easy to see through these words for the viewer, but for someone who has lived 10, 20 years only ever hearing one perspective it is nearly impossible to not grow to fully believe that Paradis island is "evil". In the modern world we have so much information we struggle to understand that type of limited view of the world. Attack on titan actually teaches a hell of a lot while being mainly entertainment.

Pretending to surrender, pretending to be a civilian, hiding weapons are a few examples of forbidden things that Gabi did anyway. Thank you for the reactions!
