Though Countess Alcina gained superhuman traits and ceased visibly aging thanks to Miranda's "gift," the Cadou parasite was not a cure for the blood disease that had been passed down to her. She still required a supply of fresh, healthy blood from victims who were not fit for Miranda's experimentation. Afterward, Alcina's adopted parasite-born "daughters," another product of Cadou experiments, would consume what biomass remained from those who were inevitably drained.
But the male staff of Castle Dimitrescu were not typically immediately sacrificed for feeding. Some with notable size and vigor survived long enough to learn that the Countess still possessed some very human, feminine desires that could only be fulfilled by the right man.
