Omg this was my first full anime! I watched in back in 2013! This version (2011) is actually the second time they animated this! There’s also a 1999 anime lol.

2024-12-01 08:05:52 +0000 UTCthis will be a ride!!! there are so many characters introduced throughout the anime, i'm so excited to see which ones stick out to you, hehe. oh also, i just started watching the reaction but i wanted to let you know now the anime title is just pronounced "Hunter Hunter", the x is silent (which has also been confirmed by the creator) but i wanted to give you a heads up bc some fans can be... wild towards those pronouncing it as "Hunter x Hunter" even tho i don't think it's that deep and personally don't care LOL. (i'll just keep adding commentary as i'm watching!) - so the term you were referring to is called shounen and it's not really a genre. it's a demographic and it basically just means it's targeted more towards younger boys (that's why a lot of shounen has action, even tho that's not all there is, but it's also why you'll notice quite a bit that the mc in these shounen animes tend to be in their teenage years lol) but obviously, anyone can watch it. i grew up watching animes like Naruto (one of my all time favorite animes!) so i do have a soft spot for shounen animes but, to me, shounen tends to consist of adventure/action/comedy, they also have a bit of found family vibes between the characters and it can also include a large cast but i love animes where we follow the mc's adventure and meet different kinds of people along the way, which is the case here! - similar to a lot of other shounens, this anime is divided into arcs but it's a slow burn in a sense where it's introducing you to the world and characters in the beginning so that's why people think it's slow at first, but i was hooked from the beginning so it's really up to the viewer to decide how they feel!
