Finally got to see your reaction to learning the original name of "Let's Get It Started" and it was worth it, lol. As for your question at the end, it was people recording on either VHS or DVD and then it being passed around(mail usually but later on, via email) by fansubbers. As a long-time anime fan, this is how they would do this, especially for Japanese live-action shows, movies and variety shows, since those don't usually get translated officially/brought over to America that often back then.
