There are multiple reasons why there is dubbing in Chinese dramas. One reason is for, as you said, production purposes. A lot of the time sets will have background noises as well as other dramas being filmed that use the same set so to make the audio clearer, they use dubbing. And actors may be called back during post-production to dub over their own lines. However, the main reason why they dub is due to dialects and accents. The standard language for broadcasting is Mandarin but due to the size of China, there are lots of dialects so some individual’s standard Mandarin may not be as clear. Bi Wenjun (male lead, Ai Jingchu), for example, is dubbed by a voice actor because he is from Fushun and has a particularly strong accent. Also, you were wondering how Zeng Li and Deng Hao Ran were related. They are stepsiblings, I think you missed when she mentioned it. Their parents were married and then divorced. So, they aren’t technically stepsiblings anymore, but they still have a sibling relationship. And if you weren’t aware, Bi Wenjun and Xuanyi are actually both under the same company. Wenjun is also an idol and is in a boy group, but is now more focused on acting.
