You have to keep in mind that in manga, a single panel can have tons of dialogues and it happens instantly as the image is still. But in the anime adaptation you have the same amount of dialogues turned into a 30 seconds sequence. So when a character is standing there not moving, technically time doesn't pass. It's just things that happens with anime adaptation that is less noticable with original anime.
