A New Low Poly Modeling Challenge for EVERYONE! 🎄✨

Guys, it's really happening!! ✨✨✨

We’re hosting our last low poly character modelling competition of 2025!

And since so many of you jumped into the course during the Black Friday sale, I had to give you all a reason to create your own characters! :)

This time the competition comes with a unique twist!

You’ll get to choose between 2 low poly styles:

Option A — the classic low poly style under 1024 triangles.

Option B — the PS2-era low poly style with up to 10,024 triangles.

These will be judged separately! But you only get one submission… so choose wisely!

Just like the 1024 Challenge, I'll be reviewing ALL your submissions LIVE on YouTube!

Here are the full rules:

1. Your model must be submitted before December 14th at 10PM CST. (Animations or static images are totally OK to submit!)

2. The triangle count includes all characters, props and environments in your scene. Make sure to label your triangle count in the submission itself!

3. Your texture resolution must be 1024x1024 or less for your entire character (including all props).

   • OPTIONAL: One extra face texture for expressions is OK!

   • OPTIONAL: One extra emissive texture is also OK!

4. Fan art is allowed — but your character needs a unique twist!

   Don’t just copy an existing low poly turnaround and make it 3D. Give it your own spin. It must be transformative from your references!

5. One submission per person!

6. Using an inverted hull outline effect is OK! (No need to count the extra polys.)

7. Custom shaders are OK! Just keep procedural textures extremely limited or unused, since we’re aiming for a hand-crafted retro vibe.

8. Composited renders and image backgrounds are 100% OK! :)

9. Submit through a thread on the #christmas-contest-submissions channel in the public Discord https://discord.gg/T2snJde

   When your final model is ready, create a new thread titled:

   YourUsername Contest Submission (Triangle Count)

   Example: Crashsune Contest Submission (947 Triangles)

10. Lighting and volumetrics are OK!
