Kyo 37

In the sprawling grandeur of the Grand Line, amidst the legendary currents and unpredictable weather, rested the secluded island Kyo was currently on, its beauty untouched and unmarred. This unique haven, featured two things.

Palm trees, and sand.

Lots of sand.

The island was carpeted in the most pristine sandy beaches, the grains glittering like tiny crystals under the warm sunlight. It was a sight that could mesmerize even the most seasoned of sea rogues. The beaches stretched out lazily, seemingly infinite, meeting the emerald sea at the horizon.

A sea of towering palm trees in the island’s interior broke the monotony of the sand, their majestic fronds rustling gently in the sea breeze. The trees created a rhythmic pattern against the blue canvas of the sky, swaying as if performing a slow, rhythmic dance to the song of the wind. Beneath them, fallen coconuts lay in wait, their sweet nectar an irresistible promise to any thirsty traveler.

There were no animals to feed upon on the island, except for birds.

There were no crustaceans except for canny crabs.

There were no fish, except for strange snake creatures that looked like miniature sea serpents.

Fortunately, Kyo wasn’t without resources. Space Cube was a versatile bit of magic when used expertly.

She was an expert according to Big Sis Nota.

First order of business, a lab. Kyo thought looking at the beach, the palm trees, and the birds flocking above. She didn’t need anything fancy, just something that would keep the bird feces at bay.

Traversing into the jungle Plant Manipulation IV proved its worth immediately. Palm trees were more than happy to inform Kyo of dead or fallen trees. In exchange, she used Space Slice focused on her finger tips to remove stumps, logs, and roots. The living palm trees gained more space, and she got building materials.

Creating a rough wooden shack was the work of half a day. When she was finished, shelves, a counter, and a roof were in place. Kyo shifted her Eternity Armor into a small necklace to be discreet. Her clothing, a feature of the armor, morphed as well into thin strapped white shirt and shorts.

With shelter in place, Kyo moved onto the next step. Food was scarce, so potions were the best way forward for meals. Using the Space Cube spell, she could melt sand into glass.

Utilizing space magic to create glass was an awe-inspiring process.

First, Kyo summoned the raw energy of space magic. This was no easy task and demanded an innate grasp of space itself. As a student of the Blue Demon, Felix, she had such a grasp taught to her with merciless precision. With extreme skill Kyo concentrated the space mana compressing it in the Space Cube spell.

When raw sunlight filtered through the cube it transformed into solar flame turning the interior of the cube into a forge of pure heat. Kyo then drew on the power of the trapped solar energy, calling upon the sun’s might. She expertly used the angling of space to draw out the first cube’s heat and energy that was trapped, focusing it with precision in a second cube. This little trick was the space magic equivalent of fire in terrestrial glass-making.

Following that, she ran beach sand, the essence of silicon, the primary element of glass, through the second cube. It was an arduous process, requiring intense concentration, as Kyo manipulated both the heat and the sand at the same time, prompting the silicon atoms to bind together.

Waste product was dumped out through a portal into the nearby ocean causing steam clouds.

When Kyo had a sufficient amount of melted glass she increased the temperature with more Space Cubes feeding calculated heat into the one filled with molten glowing mass. She had to be cautious at this stage, for the heat was very potent and could easily destabilize if not properly managed. Training came to the fore keeping her on track without error. The result was pure glass without any color.

At this point, using her command over Telekinesis, Kyo began shaping the molten silicon. Manipulation was easy after using a portal to place it into a larger Space Cube making sure the heat was consistent. All that was required was to imagine the form for the glass to take, and let pure intent based Telekinesis guide the molten material into that shape. Once multiple vials were formed, she then manipulated the heat draining it from the larger cube. Space magic worked on the vials allowing them to cool slowly and uniformly, thus ensuring the stability of the newly formed glass. A few bottles still cracked and shattered but recovering the pieces wasn’t hard.

As the multi-stage process was smoothed into something resembling an assembly line, Kyo started adding impurities to get colored glass bottles and vials. It was easy to reforge the first few batches into colored bottles with more practice.

With glass vials Kyo was able to start turning coconut juice, bird bones, and sea snake blood into sustenance. Finding the right proportion of ingredients was tricky, but not impossible.

With food secured, there was no need to tap into her reserves hidden in a small piece of Storage. What she could bring with her was minimal, limited only to the poisoned greenwood blade from Kudzu, and a few days of food.

The rest of the space was milk, a most vital food resource.

Experimentation allowed Kyo to mix coconut milk and cow milk at a one to ten ratio. It was enough to extend the precious supply, for now.

Several days of chatting with the palm trees eventually gained the location of small catch of treasure. When it was eventually unearthed Kyo was more interested in the iron than the gold coins.

Glass didn’t compare to metal, at least not without runes!

I need to get off this island. Kyo thought as she stood looking at her array of bottles. She glanced at a soft rustle to the side while cataloging her Shape-Change potions.

“A bird? News Coo?” Kyo said glancing at the strange creature perched to the side. It had a side bag attached with the words denoting function proudly on a chest plaque.
