Daily Short: Kyo 21

Kyo collapsed to the ground panting in exhaustion. The twisted, evil, demon sapphire crystal floated over her head with malevolent glee. Even the shade created by Mr. Clay, the demon crystal’s steed, didn’t excuse the horror. She had been thrilled to train in the basics of Spatial Manipulation.

Thrilled.

Ignorance is such bliss. Kyo thought as her body listed out the tortures of the daily run. Screw space, I need to master time manipulation. Time!

“Time is up. Let us continue!” Felix said with a joyful harmonic.

Kyo struggled upright. She had attempted to fight the good fight and refuse to train in this manner before. However, her willpower to resist had crumbled when every spec of meat in the residence vanished. Kyo wasn’t an idiot. It was clear what Felix had done to provide motivation.

Crying hadn’t worked. Explosive potions hadn’t worked. Begging Talos hadn’t worked.

The only thing that worked was torture disguised as training. Even more than to secure her beloved meat, Kyo had a burning motivation for power now. One day, in the far distant future that she glimpsed only in her dreams she would have her revenge.

I just need to figure out how to poison a crystal. Kyo thought as she commenced jogging very slowly once more. Something truly evil. Oh! Something that turns Felix, pink!

“See! Your bright smile shows me that this method that has been used in the past by Elites is working!” Felix said as he floated alongside her.

“Why…can’t…float…to?” Kyo managed to gasp out.

“Ah, it is because training the Body like this has incredible benefits down the road. Probably. Most probably certainly.” Felix said in a humming harmonic.

Kyo glared at the floating crystal with eyes of distrust as she panted and focused back on running. Pink was too merciful. Puce, she would find a poison that caused puce coloring. One day!

After the final five minutes of the ten-minute exercise Kyo collapsed in exhaustion on a patch of grass in the garden. The grass knew exactly what to do giving her a life-sustaining massage. At the same time Plant Manipulation IVmade sure a vine tilted her head to the side to make sure the foam exited her mouth. A nearby tree had relocated to ensure optimal shading.

If the demon crystal wasn’t invincible, the garden would have been taking potshots constantly.

Unfortunately, Kyo was well aware that the very ability to manipulate Space made Felix indestructible. Talos had managed several sneak attacks to absolutely no result. She secretly suspected that Felix only allowed those attacks to demonstrate the futility of them. That was why poison was the way to go.

Someday.

After two hours of recovery Kyo finally managed to summon her willpower and rise from the dead. Felix, with patience born of being an immortal demon crystal immediately commenced the next part of the training.

“Space is everywhere. Here. The Void. The Heavens. Everywhere. Feel for the space around you. Feel it. Touch it. Taste it. Hear it. Once you can do that, we can proceed further.” Felix said like one of those parrots that repeated words. Delicious parrots.

Kyo knew the words by heart, but every time she reached for Space it slipped through her grasp. As she was trying to grasp the essence of existence around her Felix spoke once more, breaking the monotony of his routine.

“Space is delicious meat. Meat that can help you store meat. Meat that can help you move to other meat faster. It is tasty. It smells divine. It carries the sound of sizzle.” Felix said.

Kyo’s eyes snapped wide as she realized she’d been looking at the world all wrong. There was a sharp pain in her head as reality bent under her perception twisting into a new form. Meat is everywhere, because Space is meat! Her meditating form flickered and she appeared at the top of the mansion in an instant!

The sensation had none of the sickening feeling when traveling through the vines!

Meat is the path to mastery! Kyo thought as her eyes shined before she collapsed on the roof from over-exerting her mana.
