Kyo watched as a strange ritual was performed in the giant cathedral from before. The little hut had eliminated her injuries and headache with sparkly dust on the way over. Each entity sent a tiny sliver of itself to the pretty Elf lying on the altar. Silver sparkling dust rose around the lady, and she accepted each piece. Kyo blinked, unsure if she had missed something because all the little bits were gone.

Did the dust eat them? Kyo thought with visible confusion on her face. Is this what dust does when no one is looking!?

The four entities ignored the spaced-out kitten awaiting the Witch’s Dust decision. Several minutes passed before the floating blue crystal shouted, “Victory! Take that, you green menace!”Kyo started her thoughts and looked up. It was just in time to see a massive hand of dust from the small hut pokes the floating blue crystal in admonishment.

Kudzu, Nota, and the Hut gave invisible looks at each other that Kyo could sense with her ears. They all vanished in puffs of colored smoke, leaving the floating blue crystal alone with her.

“They’ll get over it. So, you’re stuck with me now. I’m Felix.” the blue crystal said with a soothing harmonic. “While I cannot profess great skill in Alchemy like Kudzu, I have other points.”

Kyo’s ears drooped until Felix said, “I specialize in ingredients. The non-flora kind. Meat, to be truthful.” Kyo’s blazing eyes looked up as her ears sprung back into shape.

“Felix!” Kyo said with a fiery spirit.

“Er, yes?” Felix said, confused.

“How delicious is the meat?” Kyo asked with shimmering eyes.

“Very delicious. Five stars!” Felix said.

Kyo’s eyes spun, imagining the five-star level. It had to be better than sausage, bacon, and chicken combined!

“Right. I’ll also grant you a Skill for extra-dimensional storage. Don’t worry about anything coming out of the storage to devour you while you sleep, either.” Felix said.

“I won’t. If anything comes out, the plants will eat it.” Kyo shares a bit of sage wisdom with her new Patron.

“Plants are nothing to the amazing intricacies of Space and Crystals!”Felix pronounced with a loud harmonic.

“Space? Crystal?” Kyo said with invisible question marks above her head.

“Indeed. The wonders of Space and Crystals are far superior to mere plants!” Felix said in a sage harmonic.

“How?” Kyo asked.

“They can make the meat taste better and store it forever without going bad!” Felix replied.

Amazing! Kyo thought. The floating blue Patron knows the great wisdom of meat!

“There are some things that plants do better, but not many. Not many at all.” Felix said in a low harmonic.

“What is the best seasoning to start learning?” Kyo asked in a frenzy.

“Salt,” Felix said promptly.

“Salt?” Kyo said, blinking.

“Salt, aye,” Felix said.

Kyo stared at the floating blue form of Felix for a long moment before sighing. “Salt…again…”

“It is mostly due to us having gifts that synchronize with salt most readily,” Felix said with a guilty harmonic.
