Daily Short: Kyo 15

“Nom nom,” Kyo said, finishing the last sausage. It was most delicious! She stared hungrily at Talos’s plate, but the old male catkin was guarding his food like gold. She tried to use a pitiful expression, but it didn’t work. The cuteness attack failed as well, to her chagrin.

“Get the dishes washed, and then we can do a round of mana crystal production along with one singular potion test,” Talos said as he gulped the last of his food and milk.

“Wooo!” Kyo said, grabbing all the plates, forks, knives, and cups and moving them over to the metal sink. She got up on the small steps to place everything in the soapy suds. Watching everything descend into the bubbly depths was fun. Vines moved to take over the washing process, so Kyo hopped off the step stool.

Plant Manipulation IV informed Kyo some new people had arrived. Her eyes passed over them, noting they had followed Sene around earlier. This new group’s eyes were hard and expressions grim before arriving at the garden, where they became confused. The park was still in the process of cleaning up. Watching the bodies visibly vanishing, all the new arrivals gave nervous gulps.

“Rivals,” Kyo said, pointing towards the gate. Talos took note and sighed before saying, “Enemies?” After she shook her head negatively, he swiftly scooped her up carrying her like a sack of potatoes. Moments later, she was shifted like a feather before being set down. Once she was perched on his left shoulder, Talos summoned a massive cleaver and laid it on his right shoulder. Without further word, he stepped through the mansion's corridors on the path to exit.

Sunlight greeted them both as they exited the mansion’s main doors. The doors were big enough for Kyo not to duck her head. She started suspiciously at the more oversized doors as Talos carried her out.

When did they get bigger? Kyo thought before shrugging. Magic doors, magic home. Common sense is not required. Nota can explain when she’s back.

Talos quickly outpaced the arrivals as he didn’t attempt to edge around the garden and follow the wall. Crunching footsteps announced the large catkin’s coming. The group whirled from creeping along the wall’s edge to stare at him.

Talos narrowed his eyes and said, “Aren’t you the people that were with Sene a day or two ago? What the hell are you doing here?”

The oldest was pushed forward by the others to say, “We were tracking some Dogs that caught Sene. Where is she, and what are you doing here?”

Talos shifted the cleaver off his shoulder to thunk point first into the ground. “None of your business. This place is off-limits. Get out of here.” Kyo nodded in agreement. Plant Manipulation IV reached out, informing the surroundings that killing wasn’t required. Some of the plants were sad, but those with anesthesia were ecstatic!

Finally, the chance to show off to Kyo had arrived!

Before any more discussion occurred, the plants with non-lethal means took action. Talos’s eyes twitched as the group of younger catkin all collapsed unconscious. He rubbed his face and said, “You know now we’ll have to take care of them until Sene is back, right?”

Kyo tilted her head and shrugged. It wasn’t a big deal.

Talos looked sideways at her and continued, “That means we’ll have to feed them when they wake up…”

Kyo's expression despaired her solution was wrong! It was a big deal!
