Daily Short: Kyo 09

-Excerpt from the Isle Invasions
“Excellent work, munchkin,” Nota said in her kind voice. It was a pleasant voice that contrasted greatly with the messiness that currently had happened. Kyo thought Nota’s complete lack of care for what had occurred was terrific!
“Will I have to clean all this up?” Kyo said with trepidation. Cleaning meant water was involved somehow on the outside i4nstead of the inside. If the answer were a yes, she would use her new vine magic moving to escape!
“No, there won’t be a need for you to clean it up at all. Behold, small one!” Nota said.
Kyo glanced down at the red mess beneath her and watched it turning green with incredible speed. Her mouth hung open like it was letting her soul escape. She could tell through Plant Manipulation IV that the red was good for green. As she watched, hanging from the vine, her Spore Cloud finished settling on the ground. With that blanket of spores, the last bits and pieces were consumed, making every last trace of the invaders vanish.
Kyo was impressed. If only she’d had such cleaning methods earlier!
“Whoa!” Kyo said, wobbling slightly as the vine holding her shook somewhat. Rather than stay suspended in the air, she squeezed right, slipping back into the green world. Moments later, she was on the ground juggling Nota for a brief second before stabilizing her center. Toting a large book around was difficult, but even Kyo knew that talking to an older sister about weight was terrible.
“So, how was your first minor battle?” Nota said in a soft tone.
“It was a blast!” Kyo replied with sparkling eyes. Her garden had been fantastic, turning that last invader into mulch. The plants weren’t even old versions. The only thing that could make it better would be rock!
“Big sis Nota, do you know a way to get rocks for the garden?” Kyo asked. She remembered hearing that all the rich folks had terrific pieces of rocks in their garden. She didn’t know precisely why rich people wanted rocks in their gardens, but that didn’t matter. It was what rich people did, and Kyo was rich now. In theory.
She needed rocks. The logic was impeccable and fluffy.
“Rocks? Well, I do. Do you want to put rocks in your garden?” Nota said kindly.
Kyo nodded and said, “All the rich people have them. I need them because they will add spice to my garden. It will also make it easier to ambush intruders in the future!”
Nota appeared to give the idea a good amount of thought as Kyo waited. She could be patient and let her breakfast settle down. It wasn’t like she was in a hurry.
Kyo placed Nota’s book horizontally on her head and balanced as she walked closer to the garden plants. She wobbled a little but made it to the edge of the lush plant scenery. Before she could topple over, the nearby plants balanced her with vines and branches. She bowed and said, “Thank you!”
A sense of warmth flowed back through the surrounding plants. Plant Manipulation IV told her the garden loved her.
She was the fluffiest plant they had ever seen, though.
