Calculations flowed as Wilson moved across realities to clean up the sleeping glow light’s mess. After dealing with the Daedric Prince, barely a moment had passed. It was one of the few benefits of manipulating Time with Numbers.
There was always enough of it to get problems solved.
The Deep Dark was a branch of the Deeps that led directly into Matt’s territories. The distance was incalculable even with Numbers, so Wilson didn’t bother. Many creatures not welcome on the surface of any planetary body made the Deep Dark their home. While there were countless species and variants, there were only a few that Vol would trouble.
Drow, of course, it had to be a drow. Wilson thought, staring at where the lightbulb’s trail led. Why couldn’t he have just kidnapped a Sun Elf princess again? I’d even accept something mundane like starting a holy war or a new dynasty worshipping his sister.
Wilson phased into existence, emerging in a temple of one of the larger Dark Divines. Looking around, they sighed and said, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.”
The only response was a bevy of tiny poisoned arrows flying from countless shadowy recesses of the temple. For this reason, Wilson had kept the form from encountering the Daedric Prince. Placing one arm underneath their assets gave an arrogant smirk as the tiny poisoned arrows vanished. There wasn’t even a flicker of mana telling the attackers they weren’t dealing with a weak surface dweller. Wilson’s ebony skin was darker than sin, drinking in every possible light source, including body heat. It wasn’t about to give any advantage to these knife-eared annoyances.
“Strike one.” Wilson’s eyes grew half-lidded as it smirked. Some rules had to be followed when in the territory of the Deep Dark. They had no problem doing that because, sooner or later, the mortals were constantly screwed up by the Numbers.
“What does an invader want with the Lady of Shadows and Starlight?" a melodious voice asked from the shadows.
“I’m here to dissuade you from following the glow bulb. He’s a personal friend.” Wilson said, turning to face directly where the speaker was, opposite the voice’s direction.
“The Lady’s Chosen walk where they please.” The female drow’s voice spoke.
“They should choose not to piss me off,” Wilson said as their eyes closed completely. It followed the moving speaker with their face demonstrating unnerving superiority. The female drow was not used to being the weaker party in any negotiation. Wilson could feel their emotions fluctuating in tiny waves. For a creature with such control, it was the same as screaming at them.
“You come here and threaten the Lady’s people. Divine, you may be, but even the gods die!” the female drow screamed. Runes lit up within the temple’s interior, casting a silver glow that engulfed the entire place.
“Strike two and three. Thank you.” Wilson said as their eyes opened. Eyeballs had been replaced by the blazing blue light of a System Avatar.
“Kill her quickly before she shatters the trap!” the priestess shouted at the surrounding drow warriors. Almost all of them attacked except a single drow warrior.
Wilson watched the single-drow warrior escape and nodded.
Someone has to be alive to carry the message. Wilson said as they twisted space in the temple’s interior shattering every rune at once. I hate making examples, but Vol’s usefulness is greater than the entire Drow race for me.
“Blessed be those who walk in the Dark. May they pass without pain.” Wilson said in a mockery of the Lady of Shadow and Starlight’s scripture. It wasn’t like she’d be stupid enough to show up here and remark on its blasphemy.
