Daily Short: Random 06

Raven Wasser looked askance at Charlotte’s servant. The girl had obliterated the enemy with pure power. It had been a sickening moment to be puppeteered like a living doll. The entire situation only highlighted how valuable the relationship with Charlotte had become. Her servant’s incredibly lethal speed was faster than anything Raven had ever seen.

That wasn’t odd, though, as a quiet look at her pointed ears highlighted that the servant might be related to Elves. Raven grimaced when looking at the girl, Eve. Silver hair, eyes, melon-sized tits, a slim waist, and a proper amount of padding on the bottom. If she didn’t already have her paramour wrapped around her finger, Raven would have felt threatened.

As it was, the girl’s display of power clocked her at a clear high Tier. No wonder she didn’t associate with the rest of the younger crowd. Someone with such a passion for serving Charlotte made it obvious who the duke would confirm. The branch candidates had no arrow in their quiver now. The Zienfer House’s head knew what would best serve the family. They would do the right thing regardless of any personal distaste Raven suspected.

It was good luck to have struck up a friendship with Charlotte all those years ago. Raven thought, playing the part of a quiet young noble lady as she followed Eve into the bathroom for a change of clothes to be brought. Now I stand to be made heir of my household merely due to association.

After fitting into a comfortable dress from Charlotte’s spares, Raven was ready to return to the banquet. It would be impossible to escape without displaying her support after such a rescue. The Wasser House, or Waterborn, as they were known in the Othuven Kingdom, went with the flow. If it was clear that one member of the blood had favorable relations with the Erde and the Zienfer, the choice was clear for who would be their Heir. There would be little doubt about Raven’s ascension in the future. None of her siblings or branch members had a stronger claim than her.

When she had managed to lure William Erde to the altar, the master plan would be complete. Raven had a distaste for her paramour’s family, but that was to be expected. The Wasser and Erde families had been at odds since their inception. That didn’t trouble her in the least. She had staked her claim on William a decade and a half ago. When she fell in love with her Earthborn heir, William, the plot to marry had been finalized.

Over the years, Charlotte has assisted her in many ways to reach her goal. Raven had once been worried the younger, prettier, bubblier, and outspoken Zienfer heiress would steal William. To that end, she had sabotaged their relationship over the years. Everything from stealing or planting toys to bribing servants so they would switch clean wine glasses with drugged ones.

I always suspected Charlotte might have known what was going on. Raven thought as she was led back to the table that Charlotte occupied. Talking with the guards had barely taken a moment. Now though, I’m sure of it. She lets it all happen because she genuinely doesn’t care about William.

Sneaking a glance at the white-haired ruby-eyed associate nearby, it was apparent why. She would be tempted if Raven didn’t have such a clear head on her shoulders. Charlotte’s pick for a Consort was a clear cut above the usual noble rabble. He exuded a mystical sense of dangerous attraction combined with the innocence of a young man not yet mature.

Raven turned her eyes towards William, who was visible among those only tentatively supporting Charlotte. He’d made a boorish move on her earlier, but she was willing to let it go. Eve had thoroughly crushed him in both swordplay and pride as a man.

After all, that’s what monsters do. Raven thought, smiling at her future husband. They gut men out and leave them to die slowly.

I am going to have Eve's chapter out on Sunday, methinks. I'm having trouble getting the setting for the following pieces in the puzzle down.

Mr. Bigglesworth
