Late Monday Short: Matt 05

“The secret to killing titans is time,” Matt said, floating both him and his Shard Companion near the monstrosity. The power he was exuding had hidden them in a pocket dimension separated from reality. It was the easiest way to approach it without being disturbed. Showing the world around them was a paltry exercise of his power, as a mere dimensional shift didn’t stop his sight.
Jennifer was a prodigy in her affinity with Blood, compared to mortals untaught by Matt. Understanding one of the Elements required a mind able to grasp the intricacies without succumbing to madness. Matt could provide the necessary information without sending his Shard Companion into the throes of delusional ecstasy. It had caused a few shifts in her appearance that he had dabbled in molding to pass the time.
Currently, before them was the massive trunk of a Titan’s leg. It had been almost a year since Earth moved to a Prime World under his partial control. They were about midway up the leg, near the knee. This titan had a humanoid appearance since Matt wasn’t attempting to have his Shard Companion commit suicide.
Titans without a humanoid appearance had many problems, not the least because they were generally more observant. A pocket dimension like this wouldn’t escape their senses. Matt would have had to carve a box out of Reality’s guts to have a chance. A humanoid Titan, on the other hand, was easy prey.
Well, effortless for me to explain what to do with a relative level of ease. Matt thought with a shrug as he looked at the purple wall of flesh in front of them. This is the most effective training for Blood. The primary activity issue at the higher levels has always been the number of resources to work with.
“We are starting with this big guy because he walks a little too close to the island Earth is now. Best to remove him from the equation before he accidentally steps on it.” Matt said, floating them both closer to the wall of flesh. He kept them moving at the same rate the Titan was moving. It caused a strange sensation that confused an observer if anything was even in motion.
“Is it even possible to bleed something like this out?” Jennifer said while staring at the purple flesh wall of the titan’s leg.
“Indeed, it is. You just need to use your affinity with Blood to stack enough damage over time. Once this guy loses a leg, he becomes crippled. From there, death is only a matter of time.” Matt said with a bright smile. Watching a Titan fall reminded him of that one world he’d survived. It had been a quaint piece of hell that he hadn’t minded wiping out of existence. Stupidity shouldn’t be a cycle, in his opinion.
“H-How much time?” Jennifer said as the chilling winds of the ocean whipped past, screaming in impotent rage. At the height they were both at, the element of Air was still brutally icy. Not even the radiating heat from the Titan’s body could cut far enough to make a difference. The wind didn’t reach inside their space, but it was an apparent problem outside.
“Probably at least ten years will be required to finish a leg at the worst. It depends on how fast you understand the Element of Blood’s deeper profound insights.” Matt said as he paused only a few feet from the purple wall of flesh. “However, it isn’t the Titan you need to worry about.”
The cloak of the pocket dimension’s shielding dropped as Matt pulled them both back into reality.
Jennifer turned her gorgeous face to look thoroughly at him with a quizzical expression. He’d considered her shape a rather exquisite piece of artwork that had taken a lengthy amount of time and power to produce. As she enhanced her Tier and learned more about Blood, it would only grow more enchanting. Granted, the aesthetics he considered gorgeous caused most males viewing her to fall helplessly enraptured. However, that was to be expected since, at Matt’s level of power, Divines were merely the starting line of satisfaction.
Ugly was a sin that power purged in Matt’s view.
Snapping out of his musing, Matt pointed upwards with a single finger thrust into the darkened sky as he said, “The Titan, much like most overly large creatures, serves host to countless species that live in symbiosis with it.”
Jennifer’s eyes snapped upwards as a raucous series of screeches informed her they were no longer alone.
“Good luck,” Matt said, phasing out of existence before her senses. He was ready to watch a good show.
