You haven't heard from me in a bit here on Patreon! Sorry about that! I may have bitten off a little more than I can chew with everything that's been going on these past couple of months. Between planning and attending my Japan group trip, building out my new van while also trying to edit videos for my main youtube channel, my second channel, and Patreon, needless to say, I have been so swamped!
And as you guys have noticed, I've been slacking on my Patreon videos this past month and for that I'm sorry but I hope you all understand! And while I don't have a fresh Patreon exclusive video ready for you yet (one is coming soon), I did want to go ahead and give you all early access to Episode 1 of my Japan series.
This is an early access video for my Youtube channel so there is a sponsor attached to it. If you'd like to skip the sponsored segment, it happens around 4:09 - 5:20 of the video.
This video takes place 2 days before the official group trip. I wanted to get there before everyone else so I could have time to settle in and whatnot. However, a few people from the group trip also decided to arrive early with me so we went ahead and explored around a bit and it was such a blast! Plus, I got to stay in a cozy little capsule hotel!!! It was so cool!!!!
This video officially releases this Sunday and hopefully we'll have episode 2 out next weekend! So stay tuned!

I used to visit Japan multiple times every year, but the last two years have been really tough, so I didn’t get to go. Seeing probably my favorite YouTuber travelling in Japan, with familiar surroundings and hearing familiar sounds, is even more interesting than a good Hollywood movie. I'm going to have a major surgery next week, and I’ll be watching this video over and over during recovery (if I’m awake). I’ll also be looking forward to new Japan-related or van conversion videos during the recovery period. Thank you, Trent! Friendly reminder: In Japan and some Asian countries (like China/Hong Kong/Taiwan), don't stick chopsticks into a bowl of rice while eating. In Japan: Sticking chopsticks upright in a bowl is called "Tatebashi," and it’s a big taboo because this is something done when honoring ancestors or deceased people. This behavior is considered inauspicious. It’s better to place the chopsticks on a rest or in a chopstick holder. In other Asian countries, like China/Hong Kong/Taiwan, it's the same. When praying at temples or honoring ancestors, incense sticks are placed upright in the incense altar. Putting chopsticks upright in a bowl is like that and is seen as very inauspicious. If there’s no chopstick rest, you can place them on a small dish beside your bowl.
