This episode — or rather, these episodes — are a bit special (unfortunately, not in a good way) because we encountered some issues during our recording session.
Normally, we rely on a "main recording + two backup recordings" system to ensure we always have an episode, no matter what goes wrong. However, due to technical difficulties this week, we only had the main recording and one backup.
Unfortunately, both of these recordings ended up with issues.
The main recording didn’t include QT’s microphone audio because she accidentally forgot to unmute herself. Meanwhile, the backup recording picked up Fuslie's stream in the background because I (Nico) messed up and didn’t notice that OBS was recording audio from an unintended track and I could not hear the audio myself.
The result is what you’ll see (and hear) in this episode — both the YouTube and Patreon versions — with stream audio playing in the background.
We’re sorry this happened, but with everything else going on this week, there wasn’t a way for us to re-record both episodes. This was the only option left, and before we leave you empty-handed, we hope you’ll still enjoy the episodes despite these technical hiccups.

But QT does say “everyone” meaning it was likely boys AND girls, but maya chose to single out the boys and let the girls off the hook. Both boys and girls can be mean, whether accidentally or on purpose. And when you say she agreed with maya I actually don’t even think she’s commenting on Maya’s complaint with the “true, yeah, yeah”. I think she’s just expressing a confidence in her own statement. They both kind of have their own separate trains of thought in that moment and come back together after they’re done with them.

I found the lasagne video easily, it’s a video on QT’s channel called “My Friend is Actually Clueless” Tbf I’m sure a lot of people who replied to Maya’s tweet are twitter Americans who love Meghan/hate the royals because of her documentary so not really the best sample 😂 Her English friends are right though, most (younger) people here don’t care about the Royal family so don’t have a strong opinion either way. However, there are many older people & royalists that do.

Only in my last Brazilian did I experience ingrown hairs. I usually go my brazilian at a small business waxer but will probably go my Brazilian at european wax center where I used to before but it was like $300 in central Florida 😅 I also do find waxing has over time reduced the number of hairs and their thickness over time. Because I only wax the hair comes out very easily and doesn't hurt as much. You definitely acclimate to the pain and feel only the Brazilian really hurts. i actually find the warm wax relaxing when they do my back. It's definitely been worth it for me. Also WOC sometimes have adverse reactions to some lasers so do your research if you do it!

Like why the assumption that only boys called the poor girl “bush”, when it was probably girls that started it seeing as it was swim tryouts. And sometimes they mention that society pits women against each other. I feel like that’s not an exclusively female experience. Jealousy and insecurity are a human issue, not a gender issue. Competition is an inherent part of the human experience and condition. I’m not saying women don’t have issues perpetuated by society, they absolutely do. But sometimes it’s a bit much. I do also get that this attitude comes from past negative experiences with men, so I don’t like being too harsh.

2025-01-09 21:51:51 +0000 UTCokay so my take on the Nye story: we as viewers, only got like 10% of what you saw/experienced during this party, which in itself, is probably like 30% of what's happening between those ppl, so it's kind of hard to know exactly who's done what and why, but I think you did everything you could possibly have done and even more, you tried your best but there seemed to be genuinely nothing more you could have done from what we heard. it seems like a complex situation, but saying you don't know someone when a coworker comes and tells you that that person is in literal shambles, is very wild and inconceivable to me for the Patreon bonus stuff: I'm not a tier 2, so I'm not really affected by the whole changes and stuff, but in terms of ideas, I really like the idea of even if not weekly, but biweekly or smth, having one of your friends who's really passionate about a niche subject teaching you all about it, like you could have one friend that's really into this series of books and tells u all the lore and stuff, or someone who's really into idk polish tap dancing competitions (idk if that's a thing I just made it up) teach u all about the nuances and drama of the scene, but it might be complicated to introduce a third party into Patreon content and relying on other ppl for your paid content, but that was just an idea I had. or u could ask your patrons/viewers to make u PowerPoint presentations about their current interest so there could theoretically be endless content

2025-01-09 17:34:24 +0000 UTCthe story with the anxious person at the party is odd. i agree with maya and i think personally would act similarly as well. like check up on the person, give them company and try and let their friends know about the situation but if both parties arent really giving me an edge then theres really not that much i can do about it because idk them or their dynamic, i can understand people handling social anxiety differently (even if i dont get their methods lol). giving a situation like that too much attention also feels very uncomfortable and awkward and i know for a fact if i was the anxious one here i'd hate for people to push me or my friends there for answers that none of us wanna give all in all if the friends are saying to leave it be then thats what i will do, they know the person better and the anxious one is dealing with the situation the way they can, i can only interfere to the extent they want me to. leave it at that and at least try to enjoy the party for myself i cant for the life of me figure out why the supposed best friend said they didnt know upset person thats so weird great episodes! audio was scuffed in certain parts, i couldnt understand the call with qts coworker but its okay, the rest of it was understandable. my internal wine about it jug was filled with what we got. thanks qt, maya and nico for all the hard work <3 fully appreciate all of your efforts into making the patreon experience a great, fulfilling one also hope y'all are safe from the fires in LA!! take care

Also there’s no ‘royal trust’. There’s a the crown estates which basically pays for all the palaces and owns a huge amount of land in the UK for the benefit of the royal family, but they also have their own private billions. Most people really don’t care about Megan, the hate is racist nonsense from the tabloids that is ignored by all but the most die hard royalists.

2025-01-09 05:06:40 +0000 UTCthe background stream wasn't that big a deal until toward the end when they weirdly got real loud. +as for more content for the patreon, another podcast I listen to has done an advice thing where they find interesting questions from existing advice columns (dear abby, etc) and then give their own take. usually not even reading Abby's response, but you could reveal to each other what the "official" advice was, if you wanted. I know this doesn't include audience interaction, but it would help prevent getting the same questions all the time

I completely agree that the Meghan hate is just racism. Granted, I am Irish and despise the royals as an institution and all that; but due to proximity as the UK is just a stone throw away or so haha, we are fed all the phenomenal reporting in the likes of the sun and daily mail (eye-roll) and it does seem that its royalists who are mainly white, middle-class or above, middle-aged people who don’t like the idea of “diluting royal (white) blood” that have such a strong hatred of her. Even the idea that she didn’t know how to curtsey or whatever always seems to be blown out of proportion because well why would anyone know how to do that unless you’re like the people who are raised to get into the royal family which we have seen throughout history and I’m sure that’s what Kate was surrounded by throughout her upbringing. Anyway, all those expectations of knowing and going along with them for me is an absurd thought and then knowing how vocal Meghan has been about her mental health since being enlisted into the royals essentially and therefore needing to act and present a certain way with an inbred racist family who I can assume likely see you as an inferior person to themselves for multiple reasons - yeah I think it comes down to classism, racism, imperialism, etc, etc, etc.

Tabloids/racism/anti-american sentiment are all definitely major factors in the way people treated Meghan and Harry, though some people whose judgement I generally trust (TrueAnon podcast) are pretty sus on her too, but I don’t remember the reasons.
