Regarding TrashTV

While the new method is less convenient, and basically impossible to watch if you only have access to mobile, I still enjoy the Gossip Girl react content quite a bit. My vote would be to keep it and continue with the timestamp method. (Even though QT did accidentally spoil who Gossip Girl is on a stream a couple weeks ago haha)

I say switch it out for something different/unique. Like craft club would be fun, essentially doing a collaborative craft session every week. It can be crocheting a pattern that spans a month or sip and paint.

Having to look at my tv and pay attention to my phone to get reacts is a little much. It was a fun run! I love trashtv. But prefer watch alongs that are not series based, like movies. So I don't have to commit to a series. Like when you guys did the T swift movie or 300 days of summer. those were A+ to me. if you can do that type of thing with audio podcast and a GOOD sync to the content I would be so down for that.

The new format kind of works better for me cuz I can't watch patreon videos on my apple TV. So now I can just tune in on my phone for the commentary, but I can watch the actual show full size on the TV

Syncing up react content is pretty standard, but I can see how people who are used to having the show baked in would be against the change. I am willing to continue to watch in the new format, it also opens up the possibility of watching more one off movies like you did with 500 days of summer.

I think it works for movies as a one off, but tv shows might mean people can’t enjoy the watchalongs for months or years at a time if you are committing to several seasons of a show.

ahh well, some entity was bound to come after trash TV at some point. i havent watched the new format yet but i do know the yard has some sort of chrome extension for desktop users when they do their DCOM stuff so their commentary syncs up with the movie in the browser. idk the logistics of it or how hard it is to make that sort of thing but it’s always worked well for me. if that’s not a possibility i’d prefer a different benefit tbh. totally unrelated to anything just a random thought i had for my fellow patreon subscribers without american netflix or whatever other streaming platform: gossip girl is like 15 years old. it’s not hard to 🏴‍☠️

I say keep it with the commentary track. It’s understandable, and other patreons are already on this format. It will take time for people to get used to change, and there are simple workarounds for people with just one monitor (such as myself). I feel like paying for another subscription is not a huge dealbreaker (such as with the yard and their dcom commentaries), but even then I was able to watch this last episode completely free on tubi with Brave’s adblock. It’s also a big reason why I’m a patreon subscriber. If anything, I’m surprised the old format went on as long as it did.

I don’t usually watch trashTV so feel like I’m maybe biased but it’s a certainly a turn off for me, it would prevent me from catching up/watching trashTV in future (I always planned to binge watch to catch up with GG but haven’t got round to it yet) so I would say replace it with something else. Someone suggested the idea of a stream just for tier 2+ one a week or month, that’s a fun idea. I don’t know the practicalities of that though. I also agree with everything Cat Named Ducky said

I think it's quiet common and is like a commentary track without the video. It was more rare to have the video shown, I'm used to time syncing commentary tracks (am a film nerd). Theres always ways to watch it, could also do discord watchparties in the meantime. I vote to keep it unless someone comes up with a good replacement

i would love to keep trashtv because i really enjoy it but i agree with "cat named ducky"'s comment that people like me, from outside the US would probably not be able to watch along certain shows which makes it pointless. need some time to brainstorm what would be a good replacement for trashtv but itll be fine

Groups that will be excluded from this benefit by keeping it: People living outside of America (not on netflix in many countries) Mobile viewers (cant watch 2 things at once) People with 1 monitor (not impossible but inconvenient having to put both on one screen) Lastly and most obviously people without a Netflix subscription for any reason In short: PLEASE JUST REPLACE IT And for people saying they need to finish the show which are mostly people who have access to it, you can finish it yourself. They never finished Jersey Shore either. Also they barely say anything while watching anyway.

It is fine the way it is, only children think it’s okay for the ladies to be a medium of pirating a show for them and should understand that this is the norm in the reaction community, to use timecodes for full reactions. You two do a lot already, people wanting more are the unreasonable ones here. I say keep it as is.

I’d say option 2. Just replace it. It relies on too many extra factors being in place for patrons to enjoy it, and we shouldn’t require an additional subscription in order to fully engage with our patreon subscription. Sorry to hear it’s out of your hands though I wish it didnt have to change. Maybe keep it reaction based but react to youtube/other already free content. Alternative perk idea: do a livestream for only patrons once a week/fortnight/month, idk what yall could stream but you’re already streamers and the pod used to be live anyway so surely it’d be easy to figure out even it was without structure and more just chatting with each other/the audience.
