Reminds me of this netflix doc about a guy that killed his wife and kids and he was really good at convincing people he was normal because he showed “empathy” towards the family dog. It seems to be a tool to integrate into society and perhaps a chance to be seen as loving. Either way it’s scary.

But I 100% understand how you would see someone petting an animal and decide that they are not a good person. Sometimes you see someone pet an animal and you know they don't care how the animal is feeling. When I pet an animal, the main goal here is for the animal to like it. I would want the animal to enjoy my petting. When you see one of those people pet animals, you know they are not concerned with that at all. I don't know why the hell they are petting but they obviously have other reasons.

2024-11-14 04:22:33 +0000 UTCoh I feel so stupid. one time when I was little my dad had road rage at someone who merged at the end of a lane while at full speed (obviously you should just lane change like normal because just riding the ending lane at full speed is dangerous) but it was such a formative memory for me I confused it with merging at standstill traffic and haven't been respecting the zipper for the last few years since I've been able to drive. oops, well now I know.

I wonder if it's regional? A brief amount of research seems to suggest it's a worldwide merging system because it efficiently uses both lanes - but notably almost every negative-toned article, reddit post, or blog writeup mentions that california does it the worst if at all. I didnt bother to read why, I presume traffic and selfishness.
