I had basically the opposite experience with my period, tampons etc. all because my parents started anatomy education very early (i was given scientific anatomy education games in grade school). They were both high school health & PE teachers so they saw the pitfalls of not having comprehensive sex-ed in their students over the years. It was never that stigmatized for me, and didn't seem like a big deal. I don't even remember much about my first period other than I got it some year in middle school and my mom told me how to use both pads and tampons + their absorbency. She never really hid her period or period products from me or my brother as kids as well. It was all very normalized Sex education and being open about body functions is so important. I would hope at some point that all girls get the level of education and lack of body shaming I had because it really has effected many aspects of my life from self esteem, to sexual relationships, to general health knowledge. Anatomy education is so important.

Getting all those fixes to work perfectly before everything on earth goes to shit is not really achieveable. It's the same with cars. EVs can provide help, but in the end we need huge reduction of individual transportation and pedestrian/cycling cities

Expressing a frustration in the form of songwriting is a totally reasonable coping mechanism, but taking the months/years to refine it into a commercial product the intent to profit millions off of it goes beyond just using it as a coping mechanism.

2024-04-25 09:52:06 +0000 UTCI think the problem I have with swifties, saying this as someone who was in the top 2% of taylor streams on spotify' is that they want people to stop hating on them for loving her so much but if you say you don't like the new album or have the opinion that she needs to get over it or that the songs all sound the same the swifties jump down your throat and attack you and have to explain why she's so upset still and why this album is so amazing. The reciprocation for different views or opinions isn't there. You're only allowed to talk about her if its positive and that's so toxic. I can like her and her music and still think this album sounded really immature, rushed, and like a long run on sentence. And that's okay, it's also okay for someone to say it's their favorite album of all time, not everything has to be an argument and not every comment requires someone who thinks they know everything about her to try and justify why you're wrong for having your opinion

2024-04-24 09:17:36 +0000 UTCthis is gonna sound INSANE but story time for yall for my 14th birthday i wanted to go swimming with my friends but i was on my period. i told my mum and she was like u can use a tampon. in the most chill way ever my mum explained everything to me, literally got some KY Jelly to help as well as my period was still super light. i was freaking out saying i didnt know how to do it and i was really stressed and asked her to help me because i didnt want my birthday to be ruined (emotional teen lmao), she literally sat down with me and step by step helped me and hyped me up to insert the tampon and push the applicator while she sat beside me ik it sounds crazy but it was honestly really chill and felt natural and made me feel so much more confident and comfortable, and more importantly, not alone and overwhelmed

If thats true than why choose to announce the album on the grammy stage with the entire music industry and world watching when she could have announced it at an Eras Tour concert to a crowd of swifties. Also QT says "if you dont like it, dont listen to it" but Taylor paid several radio stationS to play the album on loop for its first 24 hrs after it came out, it was literally forced onto people. Also no one is expecting her to "get over" stuff but when your at Taylors level of fame theres a certain responsibility to not encouraging your fans to harass or attack people and despite what Taylor might say in an interview or a speech she KNOWS songs like the Kim one encourages that. Lastly on Fear& QT said its dumb to make fun of the cringe lyrics because Taylor has always had cringe lyrics, and thats true, but the whole theme of this album is poetry, which puts a spotlight directly on her lyrics so lyrics like "I wanna live in the 1830s without all the racists" deserves to be criticized. Love the pod.

Also you’ll never hear a majority of people dislike an album because she never tries to do something that different so it’s always exactly what you expect. She has good songs for sure but at this point it really is starting to feel like “damn she just sings about boys and all the songs sound the same”. Not like she literally does the same shit all the time but I think if you look at the every song ever spectrum way more of her songs are touching than most musicians and if you really value music as an art form then you can’t begin to think of her as one of the greatest artists because she’s not doing enough to push the envelope with the music industry from a creativity standpoint.

I really was excited to hear it. I think the difference with Cowboy Carter is that it's currently critically acclaimed and has a lot of roots in the black history of country music.

I don’t think that justifies any actual hate or meanness towards anyone especially her fans but it’s part of the why for the problem. I’m sure there are plenty of other reasons too and personally I think hearing the about the lore/fandom is interesting but that’s just my main theory.

I've used applicator ones here and there and pinched myself with the plastic a couple times. That's so much worse than any uncomfortableness that comes with the non applicators
