"Maturing"

Melissa’s hands worked carefully down Kitty’s chest, fingers pressing into the muscles with a sort of hesitant reverence, her touch still finding its rhythm. Kitty glanced up at her, taking in the sight of Melissa’s face, the carefully placed fillers that Anna had oh-so-generously paid for. The swelling had finally receded, and there was something almost delicate about Melissa’s cheeks now, a faintly chiseled softness that hadn’t been there before. Even the bruises beneath her eyes had faded, leaving her skin looking brighter, fresher, like she’d just had the best sleep of her life.

Not bad at all. Kitty’s eyes narrowed slightly, appraising the results with a discerning eye. Sure, Melissa’s new look was an improvement, but God, there was still so much to fix. Those lips, while fuller, could definitely handle another round of filler. The nose? Maybe a little refinement would bring out that sculpted jawline they’d given her. Even the brows could use a bit of work—more arch, something a little bolder. A wave of ideas flooded her mind, visions of what Melissa could become, of all the tweaks and enhancements that would take her from “improved” to practically perfect.

Kitty blinked, catching herself mid-thought, a wry smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She realized, almost with a start, that her mind was beginning to sound frighteningly like Anna’s. That same relentless, obsessive fascination with fake beauty, with transformation, with bending and reshaping flesh into whatever vision came to mind. Just weeks ago, she would’ve scoffed at Anna’s fixation with plastic and fillers, called it vanity gone off the rails. Now? She was lying here, mapping out the next steps for Melissa’s face like it was her own private project.

Kitty’s smirk widened, a low chuckle escaping her lips. Maybe Anna’s insanity was infectious.
