This is not directly related to lewds - but the Phenols' past. Read if you are interested.

A large device located at the center of Phenol Island. It generates a massive barrier that covers the entire island. Any substance other than the atmosphere that touches the barrier returns to Earth as resources of equivalent composition and mass [1][2]. Light and wireless communication are not affected by the barrier.

This device was created by the Colloid-Cellulose Copolymer during the ███ Crisis. Phenol Island had already been severely polluted, making it impossible for any organism to enter from the outside even without the barrier - however it was constructed probably because ███ Prime Minister ███ implied that they would use weapons of mass destruction to the island (which ultimately were not used).

During P-H Conference, the human side proposed a joint purification project and coexistence plan for the island, but the Phenol side rejected the proposal. Even after P-H Treaty was signed, the device remains activated [3].

[1] The barrier can inhibit organisms from approaching it by weakening their intention. If a forced attempt is made, the subject is transferred to the coast of ███ Prefecture in Japan (that area is administered by Phenol Institute).

[2] In ██ 20█, with the cooperation of Cellulose, the drones made by Phenol Institute were granted passage through the barrier. However, if the drones are modified or used for purposes outside of the approved application, they will be dismantled by the barrier as usual.

[3] This remains as a political issue, but the relationship between humans and Phenols is quite positive in general (as of December 2024).
