Dev Log 0.48c: At Long Last

It's really been one of those weeks that's just such a blitz that you don't really remember it all. Feels like a month, not in a bad way necessarily, just a lot of stuff going down.

It all started when a kindly fan decided to to a comprehensive bug hunt ("I'm doing my part!"), and they found a lot. Sure, most of those come down to missing commas. But there is a reason that the bug fixes this week are listed as too many to count. At a certain stage you stop keeping track. And there are still a lot to get through.

Regardless, these bugs could wait until now so the rest can wait another week or two. The content train doesn't stop.

Firstly, one of the bugs was that Sami's opinions on Alex joining her in the bathroom didn't make sense at C5, so these have been re-written for Sami teaches swimming 2 and this includes a new breast expansion mail.

Then, it's another shorter bit, but I updated what Lin can say if you ask her about Cassidy. Specifically, if things haven't been resolved between y'all yet.

Then, there was a missing scene request from the last round that I've done, a nice little dream about everyone watching a movie together (found under Lin's dreams)

As for finishing up a bit of mysteries, you can ask Jenny about the circles you find in the journal.

You can also ask Cassidy about what she's doing while she's working, but I haven't written her response to the circles yet.

Finally, an old Cassidy dream has now been moved inside the loop, even if it's context and conclusion are entirely reqorked. Reworked as well, I guess?

Okay, so as stated, there is going to be another week of Cassidy because she really needs that one extra week. There is still a lot to do but it's manageable in a week. That means we'll be getting another poll in a day or so!

For story time, I've still got 10% left on the upload so...

Some of you may know that I play myself some MTG, entirely commander these days. I find constructed just being a race to deploy your pre made combo and isn't very dynamic from game to game. Sure, deck design becomes super important and it's not like that isn't fun... but it's also not really the game.

I've been enjoying the new final fantasy cards, perhaps not as much as I wanted too, but still fun. I put together two different decks (I only play with friends, so I proxy heavily/entirely). One Tifa Landfall, one Ultimecia flicker. One of these decks wins games, and the other one is fun to play. With Ultimecia, every turn is a challenge, managing resources and having consistent control over the game... but never enough to be dominant. It becomes about politics and strategy as you could ruin and individual player, but aren't a threat yourself to be dealt with... Never had so much fun coming second.

Tifa on the other hand will knock out one player on turn 5, another on turn 6, then the final one on turn 7. Give or take a turn. If they're lucky... they can set me back a turn.

How boring is that? Does the same thing every game, slightly different way. Standard ways to block interference. It's got this really cool and thematic windup and beat down that you have to do every time you swing. Still boring though.

It's not a game if you know you're going to win.

it's not interesting if you're just playing out the same plan every time. Just go do test runs instead.

You're trying to have a good time with your friends, you've all made decks, rub them together and see what happens! Maybe you win, maybe you lose. It's so easy to build some ridiculous thing in magic (especially if you proxy) that just stomps everyone else. The real trick is to build a deck as strong as your opponents and make it real, real fun. I once killed someone with Mystic Reflection by making them draw out with their own creatures, that's a trick you don't forget.
