Burn the Stage: The Movie

The movie!  It didn't feel long enough.  Now I want to watch the series too!

Burn the Stage: The Movie

Comments

oh i realized it was in the Burn the stage ep 4. sorry

Tanya Marionne

i can remember that V and Jin had a fight during wings tour, right?

Tanya Marionne

Since it's featured in this movie, I would defintely recommend watching their DNA performance at the 2017 AMAs - it was the first time BTS (and red-haired J-Hope) caught my attention and haven't looked back since. The fancams are better than the network coverage imo, and the entire USA press juncket during this era was so fun and iconic

crispy lil worm

You do you, Austin. Experience BTS in your own way. It's better like that as opposed to being pressured on what to react to. I have been liking your stuff. Your journey so far is like mine, made me nostalgic when I first became an ARMY. I call them my dongsaengs though, not husbands. šŸ˜‚ But I totally get it. šŸ˜‰šŸ’œ I recalled when I first heard House of Cards and started to pay closer attention to them, I watched their behind the scenes more, the vlogs, bangtan bombs so that I would learn more about their story. It was what made me fall in love more, aside from their music. So, yeah. Discover them in your own pace and choice. You nice, keep going! Borahae šŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œ

Lane. L.

I haven't seen anyone else comment this, so I'll just say that that one first song you mentioned liking is called "Look Here" (the one that starts with "What's poppin' girl" lol). I loved your reaction! And I also kinda feel like I have amnesia because I quite literally watched this movie when it first came out in cinemas and yet there was a huge chunk of it I couldn't remember. For some reason, I remember the show far more than the movie... Anyway! I can't wait for you to react to the show! It's definitely a lot more... you know... Much more of a documentary than the movie was. And as far as I remember, the show did have episodes focused on certain members and things they were going through during the Wings tour, so you'll get just what you wanted too!

epiphachi

Oh boy, I can't wait for the day you watch the series! The documentary movies are the more polished side and the series is where we really get the raw behind the scenes for these tours.

DanielleM

Austin - how you described BTS is correct. They created a community or eco system where people from different paths of life can feel understood, healed, supported, etc. It is a bit difficult to explain to others if they haven't given BTS a chance beyond superficial viewpoints. Truly understanding BTS music alone will change your perception of why they make music šŸŽ¶ to begin with! Thank you for your reaction and for your honesty.

Jewett Laygo

Loved this! I also love corned beef & cabbage - yummy šŸ˜‹

Jewett Laygo

He mentions The Rise of Bangtan youtube series as well at the 1:36:00 mark of the video. I understand it will take him awhile to get to it (after the Burn the Stage series and everything else) I was just sharing my excitement that he's interested in watching it as well. :)

SuchALittleMonster

Hi Austin! I love your reactions Thank you for your consistent content! Like others have said, the Burn the Stage series gives a much more in-depth view into the tour and behind the scenes struggles. It’s one of my favourite series (along with American hustle life) that gave me an appreciate for how hard they work and their humbleness.

Tatiana Specht

I know you will at some point.. but you always point out wanting to see the fun them being silly kinda content from like the last clips here.. so I know run BTS is in your list .. it’s just these things episodes are EXACTLY what you’re asking for in that sense… the episodes aren’t super long but seriously the comedy of these guys and how cute and silly they are is overflowing in run BTS. Def will always wait for your reactions.. you just mention liking that vibe and you’ll get it here! Also I totally understand how impossible it is to describe to an outsider.. what it means to be an army… and why I love BTS so much lol I always say that it’s impossible to understand until you’re actually an army lol there’s so many levels and layers to this experience and the community that these 7 guys and their staff have created… is something gorgeous from beginning to now… it’s so hard to find this level of connection and positive journey from day 1. Rags to riches with the hardest working and humble humans ever. I think bang pd kinda gets the short end of the stick when it comes to BTS. He’s acknowledged but he actually has been part of so much of their music.. and his entire vision for his company and the kind of group he wanted to cultivate with BTS is so unique in the K-pop world. He really has always mentored them in a almost fatherly way… and he genuinely always seems to really care about them and how they’re doing… it’s a business so it’s def tough at the same time… but he genuinely cares about them and seriously discovered a super group and his leadership in helping joon a lot behind the scenes and always talking to joon and picking his brain… everything just fits into place with BTS imo. They’re the reason I believe in fate šŸ’œ If you haven’t heard ā€œheartbeatā€ it’s a song for a BTS world game where you have to help the members find each other… but omg the song with the mv they made for the game is gorgeous and sentimental and just gorgeous. You’d love it… and we are bullet proof eternal… I think you are ready for that as well… sometime … no rush at all! You’re the best !!!

Armystic

I know that and do agree to firtly do the official content. I just pointed out TRoB since Austin said he wanted to know more of baby bangtan.

Branka VMin

I hope one day you’ll react to jungkooks live performance of ā€œbeginā€ lol the choreo is insane and you only heard the song… I know you saw some of the live performances from this tour.. but you should def make sure to check out all the solos… have you seen first love? Yoongis song? That one live too Omfg … I think you have seen the others but I can’t remember Please don’t apologize or feel extra pressure to react.. I know the beginning of this comment may seem like the opposite but honestly you do so much already and are always genuinely just fun to watch things with so whatever it is and whenever it pops up… I’m here for it love! Don’t burn yourself out!!! I can’t imagine your schedule sounds insane… and seriously you do so so much already. Please take your time and go at whatever pace works best for you and schedule and stuff. Sometimes I’ll ask questions like the beginning of this post.. but merely just suggesting a part of an experience you haven’t seen for a song you have heard already… if that makes sense.. and if it’s a special stage… like begin and first love are so special imo but I see their other solo songs promoted so much more… that’s all. I’m here for anything and everything you put out and truly love your vibe and excited for whatever part of your journey is next šŸ’œ

Armystic

Yeh that whole thing with jungkook I’m Chile was WAY worse than they showed here… they show it more in depth in the burn the stage show. Rm was young too and stressing bc jks the main vocalist, sub rapper , lead dancer and center of BTS… and it started happening early in the show… so every time they would come off stage he was practically being carried by a staff member with jks arm over their shoulder but they would give him fluid, oxygen, ice to cool him down and the ventilator along with pressure points and stretch.. but he performed the whole concert. It’s nuts that he performed so well bc backstage when ppl talk to him he’s like incoherent and not really responding unless he says ā€œyeahā€ or ā€œnoā€ and all the boys were so worried.. now watching back I’ve seen the performance stages for that concert and it’s crazy bc some of them are constantly keeping him in their vision sight.. but he made it through the concert.. but during ā€œfireā€ they do a move where they bend forward a bit and then body roll up… but he bent and was too weak and fell forward and was able to push himself up again and finish.. but I remember tae singing his part in fire in the center and literally looking to his left behind him bc he was looking at jk … they’re such a family.. I can’t imagine how stressful that was for them and for him I don’t know how he performed the whole concert. When they came off the last song they laid him down and were cooking him down giving him oxygen and like his lips were blue… it was def scary to see. I hate seeing them hurt.. so much love between these boys. Most army are ot7… a lot of ppl have biases but genuinely support them all and that’s just how it should be… but of course with a fandom of this size… the toxic solos or whatever kind of fan that isn’t for the whole group … is going to seem bigger… bc there’s so many army. I also think bc this group has always functioned as a group… and the solo stuff was few and far between… so there wasn’t as much competition between biases… but now there is:.. so if two members are nominated against each other… and one is your bias…. Ppl are going to choose their bias there .. even if they pretend they won’t… of course they will lol but it’s def tough to see more fanwar bs bc of this chapter of BTS… and wish people would support their bias… as their bias… supports the other members… bc if we all do that… then we will always be ot7 first and foremost. There’s so many different awards and nominations too that it’s just becoming a lot and very stressful… and just ppl losing the point if their art and their journey… but I still believe most of us are ride or die for the 7

Armystic

Austin thank you for sharing your BTS journey. I enjoy watching reactions like this because it makes me feel less alone in my own BTS journey. You nailed it with BTS is a community. While there are solo stans and a few toxic fans, the far majority of Army are supportive and connected in their love OT7 BTS. Every person’s journey has been different and that is okay. Please don’t ever feel the need to produce content for the sake of a time schedule or because you feel the pressure to provide it to people. It should be because you wanted to watch that video on that day. It should feel authentic and not forced. ~ I agree with what many have said about Burn the Stage. Episodes are much more detailed. The movie gives you an overview glimpse into tour life. The episodes are a deeper look. You think you know what it would be like until you see these episodes. I’m with you in that I will be doing my best to try and purchase tickets to their next concert when they are all back together. It would be nice if they would hold one concert date just for those of us who have ever been to a concert before. LOL. I am willing to fly anywhere for the privilege. Did you notice when Bang PD told them they would most likely perform at the AMA’s that Yoongi raised both arms over his head in shear joy? It was an immediate reaction and it just melted my heart to see him so happy. Seeing RM in leader mode talking to the members before going on stage reminds me his job is more than being the voice of BTS in interviews. He is there guiding the others and encouraging them. I could write a book about each of them and I think you right that we need a movie about each of them. šŸ’œ

Kellzie

Also... in Bon Voyage season 1 they got a letter from their manager Sejin... if you go to 47:09 in this video, he's the guy in all black and black rimmed glasses behind Hobi. He was their manager for a long time and then got promoted to be the manager of all the managers...so Sejin has leveled up for sure and we will always miss him.

HeatherW

So, yes they are all friendly with their staff, especially the dancers because they work so closely together, but the guy Jimin is talking to at 8:20ish in your video is Lee Hyun who is a soloist with BigHit (previously a member of the group 8Eight) and someone who was signed to the label before BTS and saw them grow up and has been very supportive of them.

HeatherW

he means the burn the stage series

AstronautInTHEboX

he wants to watch the Official Content first, before the Fan POV Series. It's always important to watch BTS Original Content, fan Content is always biased, even it comes from a good heart. BTS have 3 own made Documentaries Series and 3 Movies, made by them and their Team.

AstronautInTHEboX

Austin just want to say thank you. We are very passionate but at the end it you choose how you to watch things. We can suggest but don't worry it's still your channel or journey on how you want to get to know bts. 🄰

Joy

Yes, j-hope is a producer! He co-produced several BTS songs and most of his solo work. He doesn’t get mentioned as a songwriter/producer as much as Suga and RM do, which is a shame because he’s equally involved in the music (someone once said the rap line are like the ā€œthree musical pillarsā€ of bts). J-hope always writes his own lyrics for his verses, he’s very detailed and does lots of literary research and references. He’s extremely humble though and very much downplays his skills, so some people aren’t as aware of his impact on their creative output. What makes it even more impressive is that j-hope before 2010/2011 had no song-writing, producing or rapping experience at all, so he learned and practiced all these skills like songwriting and producing while being a full-time bts member, and had more pressure on him to learn writing, rapping and producing quickly because he was the third full rapper and had lots of responsibility, while the 4 vocalists (who also had no experience) could approach these things more in their own pace. (Like his lyrics for More: ā€œbeen teaching myself for 11 years, still crash and fall to make my artā€). Thank you for all you do, your reactions make me smile - I love seeing how fond you are of all of them! Really excited to hear your thoughts on bv 2 (which was during the same time as Burn the Stage)!

CC

Man, Burn the stage always gets me emotional. Just remembering watching them go from before the big blow up in America (and then WorldWide) is crazy. I was obsessed from the I need You era in 2015 and when 2018 hit I couldn’t believe I was hearing them on the radio in my car. I work the hospital life-it’s not easy stress wise. Taking care of my mental health is highly important for my work life balance and BTS became my comfort and has continued to be until now. Yes, I have other groups I enjoy and love (Seventeen being a big one), but BTS was my growth through the end of my twenties and growing with them for their dream of music is something I’ll never forget. Purple blooded for life. šŸ’œ I can’t wait for my next concert with them (I will make it happen no matter what). 2025 will be my 10th ARMY year and I will also be 35 years old, gotta celebrate it up šŸ’œšŸ’œ Side note:my favorite scene will always be when all of Bangtan are at the pool and Yoongi is sitting in all black, in the corner with wine and a slight disgusted look on his face while his team is chaotic in the water šŸ˜‚ We joke he has cat like tendencies but that one scene is what I always think of when ARMY talk about his cat like attributes lol, gets me cackling every time.

Brittney Danielle

What I will say about seeing them during times of injury or being hard on themselves RM discusses during the series he wanted to show fans the real experiences they go through during a tour. They pushed themselves hard maybe too hard in the early years, they had a lot to overcome. The wings tour was a huge world tour with tons of locations, I think they and the company learned a lot from it one thing being to space things out more (everything was happening at once feeling like they were climbing too high to fast to catch their breath and I think that's what Bang PD was thinking about when he said if they kept going like that he was worried they wouldn't enjoy it anymore) With each tour afterwards they learned and gave themselves more breaks in between, also listening more to their own bodies they started letting the others know or members would pick up on the others conditions and they'd discuss hey instead of doing the choreo here we'll just walk around the stage a bit etc. I'm also really glad they have so much dedicated staff that support them and have such a good team. You will see more of the behind the scenes things in the series. You go at your own pace and don't pressure yourself. I think we fans can be overly passionate sometimes, even downright bossy without realizing it or how we sound. It's okay to tell us to chill out or remind us this is your patreon or your youtube and you will do what you want with it or when you want to. Working a fulltime job possibly overtime is a lot so don't feel bad if you need to slow down for a bit or take a break etc. Also reminding people you have a fulltime job and this is done on your free-time for fun is good especially on youtube (so many think everyone is doing it as their job or only source of income or don't have a life outside of making reactions lol). Thank you for all that you do and I'm just happy to experience this journey with you, that your allowing us to join in with you. I don't have anyone in my day to day that listens to bts and no one around me understands it or what they mean to me. Finding people, other army online has been a blessing for me and it really does feel like a community or a bond that I can't put into words. The love I have for the members isn't easy to explain to others outside of other army, like you said it's really hard to describe bts fully to someone. I'm really glad your enjoying getting to know and love them. Thank you! Borahae! šŸ’œ

roguechevelle

same I prefer the series too.

roguechevelle

^^^ just wanna add that RM's first mixtape is closest to what a real mixtape would be. He sampled beats from famous artists and i think a lot of fans aren't aware of that, even on a well known song like Joke. Though i think it comes down to people not really knowing the difference between writing, composing, and producing (which is fine btw if you're not that into the behind the scenes of music making, but fans have to be more careful about the claims they throw around)

Erika Smith

wow its been so long since i've seen this that i couldn't even remember what the movie was like. It honestly felt like an hour long preview for the series which is so much better in my opinion. I'm personally not a fan of the excessive narration from an outside voice that's talking in the first person. It was a very strange artistic choice to me. I love the series though and it really does give a in depth look at tour life that the movie only scratches the surface of

Erika Smith

To address your concern about their health on this tour: In Chile, their venue was at a high elevation and JK had a combination of altitude sickness + slightly overdoing his performance, which impacted his health short-term. Jimin and of course, SUGA (before his surgery) dealt with shoulder problems on an on-going basis. RM pulled muscles in his calves, which required rest (j-hope commented on how it was good they were taking a break for a week). The staff have hand-held oxygen cannisters when they come off-stage. It was RM who joked about going to the hospital - in Korea, they don't necessarily go to the "doctor" (as we do in the states), they go to the "hospital" when they address a health issue. When Weverse notifications are posted about health stuff, they say "so-and-so went to the hospital" and it's unnerving, but then you read further and it doesn't mean it could be a major event. When we, in the states, say someone ends up in the hospital, the event is usually catastrophic, but in Korea, that isn't necessarily the case.

kolea626

The rise of bangtan + deleted scenes and bonus content will give u the exact things u said u love and wanted more of. I really love ur little life segments and coments, pls dont be discouraged to be urself and add some personal stuff, we are here for the 7 boys but for ur lovely self as wellšŸ’œ

Branka VMin

Austin, you spoil us with so much content and from the beginning you were Army material. You're so frikkin nice and respectful Iwouldn't dare to tell you what to do. You're gonna love the Rise of Bangtan, they have the perfect balance of everything. šŸ’«

LaĆÆka

The series is more behind the scenes and goes into much more detail with the members

Jenny

More comments at the end: Definitely just do your journey the way you want! Hobi (and the rapline) is VERY involved in the mixtapes, so while they often use the in-house producers/mixers etc, they're often backseat driving the entire time. and yes, BV2 was in 2017 too. 2017 really burnt them out, and when they renegotiated their contract in 2018 they made sure that they got a month-long vacation in 2019. If you react to the series, you'll be able to see the things you were missing in the movie - more backstage moments (both fun and not) and more information about the individual members. JK didn't have to go to the hospital in Chili, but he WAS really bad off. There IS a fancam out there that catches him nearly fainting on stage during Fire. And while I remember - YES, you should watch Hobi fancams. They're amazing.

Alix Drifty

Yeah I'm not to sure if it will be safe to watch the entire series on youtube but you can try.

Joy

Thank you for sharing your reactions and your thoughts. I hope you don't feel pressured to always upload, please enjoy the journey at your own pace. šŸ’œ

annya

I put mixtapes in quotations because they aren’t what traditional rap mixtapes actually are. How they are made is closer to a studio album. Rm even discussed it at the festa dinner. Not all of the songs are self produced (Hope world prod by Docskim Tokyo prod by supreme boi to name a couple) The guys openly thank these people on their post release vlives. I’m not bashing the guys for this. Im grateful for the help they receive. Their life is busy enough. I do think that giving proper credit for anything is very important in any creative industry.

Laura Lea

Not sure which jk injury they were talking about but that part where he got really exhausted you see more in detail in the burn the stage doc series. There was another doc series where he got injured on his ankle/foot but it won't come up for a while .

Joy

Yes! This is your journey and u should pick how u want to go about it. I also want to say to take ur time, don't feel pressured to do too much. I'm I'm over 2 yrs in and I'm watching the movie for the 1st time here w/ u🤪. I kinda started my journey in a similar way as u and kinda cherry picked content as it came to me and w/ the boys constantly dropping stuff makes it so that we r never lacking in something to check out. I kno that context is sometimes missing and things make more sense later but everyone has their own way around the content. I really watching along w/ u but whenever u need to slow down I will totally understand.

Bea

What's difficult to process is that BTS almost never gets to just enjoy the cities they tour in - that doesn't seem to make the edit in the series/movie. As opposed to say Seventeen (SVT Record), they play basketball, eat hotdogs from the vendor, go boating on the lake, walk through the park - all on their downtime on tour. I understand BTS is MASSIVE but the Wings Tour was in 2017 and although they were global/huge, and there are moments when they do walk the street in relative anonymity (JK's GCF in Japan, V in Paris/London for his Winter Bear MV), most times, it's hit or miss.

kolea626

Season 2 of bon voyage I can't remember if it was in the middle or after there wings tour . Just know you are on track so far you are in the same time line when you watch bon voyage season 2. You will understand why bon voyage was a great break they needed after doing so much touring.

Joy

Why did you put mixtapes in quotations? I'm talking about their actual mixtapes and not their solo albums. They're credited as producers on every single track of their mixtapes. Suga and rm are credited as producers on all tracks on D2 and mono

karla francis

Wings is just one album, and then you have some additional songs from You Never Walk Alone too (ex: Spring Day, Not Today) and then I think you'd be pretty good to react to the concert (though there's older songs they do too, so there might still be new stuff in there.) I think Burn the Stage the series is Youtube Premium only still, with only the first episode free for all youtube, so I'm not sure you'd be able to react to it all on YouTube - but maybe! The series is definitely great - it goes into way more detail about the events that happen at each place and you learn so much more about the boys and how they work as a team.

Alix Drifty

They didn’t produce all of the songs on their ā€œmixtapesā€ starting with Hope World. They get a lot of help from the big hit team. Hope World is when they switched from old authentic self made mixtape style to the higher quality solo albums we get today.

Laura Lea

Now that I have watched I need to say this: Explore BTS in your own way. You only get to go down the rabbit hole for the 1st time once so enjoy the ride however and which way you want and need to. We are all just totally jealous. I will be patient and I’m excited to see where you go next. šŸ’œ

Laura Lea

1:24:40 that was so interesting from your pov especially! Since I'm only army I guess I always wondered how BTS and army would feel to a multi/kpop stan (not in a competitive or comparing way)

Lela

For their mixtapes, they wrote, composed and produced the songs.

karla francis

i did the same thing, where i watched the movie and then decided i needed to watch the series too. after watching both, the movie honestly feels like a very extended trailer because it covers the tour in general but the series goes so much more in depth for things behind the scenes that the movie only shows glimpses of. i don't think there's a "proper" way to get to know, or get more into, any group. just checking out things you want to check out and taking things at your own pace is a totally valid way to go. as long as you're enjoying yourself that's all that matters, being a fan is for yourself first

nom

Loved this. Thank you. Yes please re the documentary series. It's great though hard hitting and emotional. I can't wait for Bon Voyage s2. The Bon Voyages are my favourites of them all. One day far into then future, if you crave behind the scenes stuff, you'll adore Memories for each year! Have a good weekend, hope you can rest a bit too.

SeaLights

I hear you on the NYC sentiment ... I've lived there for the past 7 years and have absolutely loved it but I can feel myself feeling so run down and stressed for no reason. Moving back home to Seattle next year! <3

Julie Bourne

Just wanted to say, we all appreciate you and your content so much! We’re here to enjoy your content alongside you at whatever pace and whichever order you decide. :) I am so happy to hear you want to watch the Rise series. It’s my favorite and so well done. And knowing how much you love the behind the scenes content, I think you will adore it! I’ll be looking forward to it and all the rest of your content. Thank you for everything you do.

SuchALittleMonster

Austin, I’m loving your journey and happy to go along with you. BTS make me feel that my heart, soul and mind are in unison and it feels like an explosion happened but it this beautiful galaxy and I can’t look away and I don’t want too - does that make any senseā€¦šŸ˜†šŸ’œ

My Purple Light

I have been at 2 Concerts, I have to say BTS Concerts r more like a Musical/Show that tells a Story, but it ends like a big ass House Party, it's just a wild experience.

AstronautInTHEboX

The series is definitely more behind the scenes I think you’ll love it <3

Mckayla

plz font feel pressure, first u dont charge a lot for patreon so do what u have to do ill be here waiting for the next bts video doesnt matter how long it take :) love ur reaction and ty for working so hard for us all ^_^

Zephys

I have the same problem with describing BTS to other people. I never seem to really get my point across. I think it’s also a feeling or something. Not only the music, the boys, but also the feeling that you belong to something bigger and important. I don’t know. I still don’t know how to describe it. Does anybody has a good way to answer the question ; why do you like BTS so much?

C. Zegers

same, i love the series and it was released before the movie.

nessa

the movie and series r aimed to be different, they even explained it. That was the whole point of it.

AstronautInTHEboX

It’s so weird watching this with you because I’ve never seen it or haven’t in a very long time. It’s weird to see all they cut out from the series. I think you’ll enjoy the series a lot more, it’s more detailed, there’s more interviews/scenes, and the editing itself is a lot better. Wings is just one album, but it was repacked into you never walk alone with spring day/not today!

Moni Kay

Honestly I would have gone with the series first and then the movie. And since it's all on YouTube definitely watch it.

Gabrielle Renae

I agree. The series has far more detail.

Infinite Ree

The song at 34:55 is Look Here It's one my absolute favorites. it always gets me so pumped as soon as I hear Namjoon say "what's poppin girl" šŸ˜… It's a great workout song The song at 48:55 is 2!3!

Infinite Ree

roguechevelle

Haven't even watched yet but have a feeling you loved it, you totally have to watch the series, it's sooo good

Micha Stone

Thank you for reacting to this. Its surprising how many reactors skip these documentaries. Plus, I’m having a bad morning and this gives me something to look forward to watching later. šŸ™‚

Laura Lea

Good idea, the serie is great!
