Dev Log 0.20a: Smut Based Economy

So Lina won the character poll so she is being pushed forward.

This has necessitated another system overhaul. All photo's are now generic rather than hard coded... well they're still hard coded but in a much better way that actually tracks them as objects instead of manual variables. So this means that you can now trade any sexy photo you come across to Lina, and any photo you come across of your friends to Haily. Next week it will probably include Carla's scrapbook as well, but that's a lower priority.

So it was a long week of coding and little writing. I did what I could to test it and it's stopped crashing, I coded it in a pretty resilient way so it shouldn't randomly crash... unless I misspelled something. The automated error checking didn't find any mismatches though.

This is something that needed to happen, there are just a lot of photos to take. The system is definitely more powerful and allows for greater expansion of content and wont become hugely bloated like the old 'choose from text menu' thing as it continues to grow. But there is always something that a generic system lacks in flare, it's more difficult to link all the cool possible options. Though really, part of game design is just that you can't always have everything you want so you have to build the best system you can.

Also... I would like to thank the people who came and delivered me dozens upon dozens upon dozens of bug reports. They all needed to be fixed, and some of them were pretty serious and REALLY needed to be fixed. Most of these were put in hotfixes for the early access build from last week, which is why it was up and down a bit.

All in all though, not trying to temp fate, but I feel like after the past few weeks disruptions things are getting back to normal. Coding endlessly might not be as satisfying as scene writing, but I made systems, they work and I can now return to the pile of scene cards I have sitting in the development trello to build.

Anyway, night night everyone. I even get to tuck in a few hours early this week!
