Dev Log 0.18b: Lads and Landladies

This week was another one of these weeks where I manage even more with an even less impressive changelog. Hopefully next week I can phone it in with a huge amount of tiny scenes to fill that out. But we've got two rather large scenes with both massage from Carla and Tea with Carla. Really though, there was another development that happened and it's something to talk with y'all about.

The first thing I actually went to do this week was redo Jenny's sprites. I know she hasn't been obliterating the development poles but it's good to still get more sprites for people and there is some stuff waiting in the wings to get pushed out for her. So I sat down and started my renders:

... Oh no.

Firstly, Gah, that colour balance! It's hideous! Her pale skin? And hair in particular just has all the vibrancy stripped from it. The old Jenny render dates back to the vary earliest days of development, before I changed out the render setting I was using that, in general, makes things look better. But boy has it done a number on Jenny. Solvable problem. Just have to rejigger her hair colour to be more vibrant.

Secondly though... We have to talk about the skirt. Clearly these are two different skirts. I seem to remember swapping it over at some stage because... well... 

From behind... It's very behind. The only reason you think it covers panties is because you are look down on it. And I was like "Who would even wear this?" not Jenny, she's trying to avoid that kind of attention kinda.

But looking back on it... That old skirt is just so much sexier. More exciting! And really... Jenny is living out her fantasies, does reality have to be a part of that, why can't she have a skirt that short?

Furthermore, her skirt is inconsistent between various pictures. A lot of the full screen renders have the "new" skirt and her regular sprites have the old. Really, considering that she is still a bit under developed... I'm going to have to redo all 8-9 images she's in on top of her regular sprites. Well... I don't have too, but I want to and I've still got all the scenes saved so it's mostly just swapping out a character.

Also, something I noticed Jenny is part of the pony tail squad. Not a problem with that, I and all the gals I know wear our hairs in pony tails... life without a pony tail is life with a mouth full of hair. But there are a too many similar pony tails in this game. Alex (not that you see it much), Sami, Haily and Jenny all have similar (but not identical) pony tails and I'm looking to take that out. I was debating on putting this in a development pole but it's not really that big given it's just a hair style so how about we just chat about it.

I played around a bit and threw together some concepts but I don't think any of these are final designs, just wanting to feel out what you guys are interested in:

Not really sure what I think about the shorter ones, they aren't quite in keeping with the mild librarian aesthetic happening with the glasses. Doesn't mean we wont get something better than that though. Some still have pony tails but they are a lot different from the existing samey ones.

Anyway, I'll leave that with all of you for this week.
