Today I wanted to show something a little different out of my portfolio.
These pencil drawings with digital coloration are part of a series where I illustrated various poems of an author friend of mine. The poems focus on everyday observations and thoughts.
This series really showcases two aspects within my art I find myself drawn to quite often: details/materials and lighting to set a mood.
In this case it's also playing with negative space, the white areas left untouched and is testing various levels of composition. This mixed media technique where I add digital coloration to traditional drawings, which are either done with a pencil or with ink, is really an area of medium I hope to expand even more into in the future and has been my technique of choice for a couple more elaborate projects beside my digital art in the last couple years already.

I never really found the right visual connection between text and drawing for this one tho, which is why I consider this project still somewhat undone and hope to come back to it one day, when I'm more suited to tackle this issue.
